Mike Reynoso is back at it with the Owls

Mike Reynoso

After a break from coaching at the junior college level, Mike Reynoso is back at it with the Foothill Owls. The former Canada College coach has been hired to take over in Los Altos Hills. It has been a journey for the head coach since being out the junior college game, but it does not take away the success the former Canada coach has had on the sidelines. Reynoso was named CCCAA coach of the year in 2015 and his Colts made a trip to the Final Four losing to eventual state champion Saddleback College. Six years later, Reynoso is at Foothill College and the head coach has a different outlook on things. “I got in more touch with my life,” said the Owls head coach. “I got to spend precious time with my family and that time is valuable,” added Reynoso. The head coach is looking forward to the new challenge as he takes over for Matt Stanley.

When It comes down to what Reynoso wants from his program. The culture has to do with attitude and effort. “I want us to control our attitude and effort,” said Reynoso. The Owl family believes that is important to represent yourself, the community, family, and the school. The valuable things are a necessity when you put on that uniform on and off the floor. As for expectations for the upcoming season, Reynoso wants his Owls to compete harder than anyone else. The hard work is a must as the Owls are playing in the Coast North Conference as it is the toughest conference in Northern California. There are not any nights off while playing in that conference and it starts with being able to compete with San Francisco and other quality teams within the conference. “The goal is to dethrone San Francisco City College,” said Reynoso. The new Owls coach does not shy away from the challenge and being a contender in the conference. The challenge will not happen overnight but the newly hired head coach will look to start a new era of Owl basketball for the upcoming season.
