Week 6 Regular Season Southern California Signal The Light Basketball Rankings

  1. Ventura (12-0): The Pirates are our new number one in our Southern California rankings after winning three straight at the Santa Barbara Tournament. Ventura has won 12 straight to start the season and picked up wins against Long Beach, Bakersfield and Desert last week. Ventura is 8-0 against teams that have a winning record this season and are 4-0 against teams ranked within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This weekend, the Pirates will travel up north and face some solid competition in Visalia as Ventura will face 2nd ranked Columbia on Friday and follow that up with a game against 3rd ranked Sequoias.

2. Fullerton (10-1): The Hornets fall from the top spot in the rankings after suffering their first loss of the season and winning the consolation championship at their own tournament. Fullerton lost to Los Angeles Southwest in 1st round action but picked up wins against West Los Angeles and followed that up with a win over Citrus. Fullerton is 6-1 against teams that have a winning record and the Hornets are 5-1 against teams within our Signal The Light Basketball week 6 rankings. This week, the Hornets begin Orange Empire Conference play as Fullerton will face Santa Ana on the road on Wednesday and follow that up with a home game on Friday against 10th ranked Irvine Valley.

3. San Bernardino (8-3): The Wolverines move up two spots after picking up a win last week and due to all the shake ups above them. San Bernardino picked up a 69-54 win over Santa Monica last week and have won eight of their last nine games. This season, the Wolverines are 7-3 against teams that have posted a winning record this season and have a 5-3 record against teams ranked within our Signal The Light Basketball week 6 rankings. This week, the Wolverines will be in action one time as San Bernardino will host Chaffey on Saturday.

4. Santiago Canyon (10-1): The Hawks jump two spots and make their way into the top 5 after going 2-0 last week. Santiago Canyon picked up a 61-60 road win over Los Angeles Harbor and followed that up with a 80-67 win over Palomar. The Hawks are 6-0 against teams that have a winning record and have posted a 2-0 record against teams that are ranked within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This week, Santiago Canyon will be in action twice in conference action as the Hawks will face Orange Coast on the road on Wednesday and follow that up with a home game against a solid Cypress team that has won three straight.

5. San Diego (9-3): The Knights drop two spots in the rankings after finishing 2nd at the Fullerton Tournament. San Diego picked up wins against Citrus and Chaffey before losing to a very good Sequoias team in the championship. This season the Knights have a 3-3 record against teams that have a winning record and San Diego is 2-3 against teams that are ranked within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings for week 6. This week, the Knights start conference and will face Cuyamca at home on Wednesday and follow that up with another home game against San Diego Mesa on Friday.

6. West Los Angeles (9-3): The Wildcats drop three spots in the rankings after going 1-2 last week. West Los Angeles lost to Sequoias and Fullerton but picked up a win against Southwestern at the Fullerton Tournament. This season the Wildcats have a 5-3 record against teams that have a winning record and have a 2-3 record against teams ranked within our week 6 Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This week the Wildcats will face Copper Mountain on Saturday in their lone game of the week.

7. East Los Angeles (8-3): The Huskies stay put in the rankings after going 2-1 at the Riverside Tournament. East Los Angeles picked up wins against Saddleback, and Mt. San Jacinto but suffered a loss against Riverside on the last day of the tournament. East Los Angeles has won five of their last six and have a 3-3 record against teams that have a winning record and are 1-3 against teams ranked within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This week, the Huskies will be in action twice as East Los Angeles will face 11th ranked Citrus on the road on Wednesday and follow that up with a road game against Long Beach on Friday.

8. Los Angeles Southwest (10-3): The Cougars move up three spots in the rankings after going 2-1 at the Fullerton Tournament. Los Angeles Southwest College knocked off top ranked Fullerton and Chaffey but fell to Sequoias in the semifinals. The Cougars are 3-3 against teams that have a winning record and have posted a 1-2 record against teams that are in our week 6 Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This week, the Cougars are off and will not return to action until December 30th when Los Angeles Southwest takes on Mt. San Jacinto on the road.

9. Los Angeles Harbor (7-1): The Seahawks drop one spot in the rankings after losing their lone game last week. Los Angeles Harbor fell from the undefeated ranks as the Seahawks suffered a 61-60 loss at home against Santiago Canyon. This season the Seahawks have a 3-1 record against teams that have a winning record and Los Angeles Harbor has posted a 1-1 record against teams ranked within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This upcoming week, the Seahawks will be in action one time as Los Angeles Harbor will face 13th ranked San Diego Miramar at home on Sunday.

10. Irvine Valley (7-3): The Lasers jump up two spots in the rankings after going 1-0 last week. Irvine Valley won their sixth game in a row after cruising past Mt. San Antonio 80-59 at home last week. The Lasers are playing solid basketball at the moment and have a 2-3 record against teams that have a winning record. Irvine Valley is 1-1 against teams that are ranked this season and come into conference as one of six teams that have a winning record in the Orange Empire Conference. This week the Lasers will be in action twice as Irvine Valley will take on El Camino on the road on Wednesday and follow that up with another road game against 2nd ranked Fullerton on Friday.

11. Citrus (7-4): The Owls drop two spots in the rankings after having a tough 1-2 weekend in Fullerton. Citrus lost to San Diego and Fullerton but picked up a win over Southwestern last week. Citrus has a 4-4 record against teams with a winning record and the Owls have a 1-4 record against teams that are ranked within our week six Signal The Light Basketball week six rankings. This week, the Owls will face 7th ranked East Los Angeles at home on Wednesday and then hit the road and face Los Angeles Pierce on Saturday.

12. Canyons (7-3): The Cougars drop two spots in the rankings after going 1-1 last week. Canyons suffered a loss against Cypress but came up with a win against Rio Hondo. Canyons is 2-2 in their last four games and have a 2-3 record against teams with a winning record. The Cougars have a 0-1 record against teams within our rankings this season. This week the Cougars will travel to the Central Valley of California and face West Hills Lemoore on Wednesday in their lone game of the week.

13. San Diego Miramar (6-2): The Jets move up a spot in the rankings after going 2-0 last week. San Diego Miramar beat Orange Coast twice last week. Miramar have a 3-1 record against teams that have a winning record and the Jets have a 2-1 record against teams that are ranked within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This week, the Jets open up conference action and will face Palomar at home on Wednesday and follow that up with another home game against Southwestern on Friday evening.

14. Cerro Coso (9-2): The Coyotes continue to roll and play solid basketball and move up one spot in the rankings after going 2-0 last week. Cerro Coso picked up wins over Rio Hondo on the road and followed that up with a 98-69 win over Reedley. Cerro Coso has a 4-2 record against teams that have a winning record and against ranked teams the Coyotes are 0-2 this season. This week, the Coyotes start conference action as Cerro Coso will take on Barstow at home on Wednesday and follow that up against Victor Valley on Saturday on the road.

15. Riverside (7-4): The Tigers come back into the rankings after posting a 3-0 weekend at their own tournament. Riverside picked up wins against Copper Mountain, Cerrritos and East Los Angeles for a solid weekend. Riverside has a 2-4 record against teams that have a winning record and the Tigers have posted a 1-3 record against teams ranked within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This week, in conference play the Tigers will face Golden West on the road on Wednesday and follow that up with a home game against Santa Ana on Friday in Orange Empire Conference action.
