Week 7 Regular Season Northern California Signal The Light Basketball Rankings

  1. San Francisco (11-1): The Rams remain at the top of Northern California following three wins last week. San Francisco dismantled Sierra 91-47, then followed that up with a 81-77 win over Butte and won the Tristan Hill Holiday Tournament with a championship win over Contra Costa. The Rams have a 7-1 record against teams that have a winning record and are 7-1 against teams that are ranked inside of our rankings. This week the Rams will take on Alameda on the road on Wednesday for their lone game of the week.

2. Columbia (11-0): The Claim Jumpers remain at number two in the rankings after winning another game last week. Columbia won their 11th straight game, knocking off previously Socal top ranked Ventura 74-73 in a battle of undefeated teams. Columbia has put together a 7-0 record against teams that have a winning record and the Claim Jumpers are 3-0 against teams that are ranked within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This week, Columbia will have one game as the Claim Jumpers host 9th ranked Chabot on Wednesday.

3. Sequoias (10-2): The Giants remain at number three following two wins last week at home. Sequoias cruised to a huge 105-45 victory over Los Angeles Trade Tech and then followed that up with a 93-57 win over Ventura the next night to close out their big weekend. Sequoias has now won five straight and have put together a 6-1 record against teams that have a winning record and are 5-1 against teams that are ranked inside our STLB rankings. The Giants will be off this week and return to action December 30th when Sequoias faces MiraCosta.

4. West Valley (11-2): The Vikings move up one spot in the rankings after picking up a win last week. West Valley cruised past Cuesta 108-62 in a rematch of a game that went to overtime earlier this season. The Vikings have won two straight games and are 3-2 against teams that have posted a winning record this season. West Valley is 3-2 against teams that are ranked and the Vikings will be off the week. West Valley returns to action on December 31st when the Vikings will host Skyline.

5. San Mateo (10-2): The Bulldogs move into the top 5 following a win last week. San Mateo went down to Coalinga and escaped with a victory over West Hills in overtime 101-100 to pick up their second straight win. San Mateo has now put together a 3-2 record against winning teams and are 1-2 against teams that are ranked within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This week the Bulldogs will be in action on Tuesday and face De Anza for their lone game of the week.

6. San Jose (13-2): The Jaguars move up one spot in the rankings following a 3-0 weekend. San Jose picked up wins over Allan Hancock, Siskiyous and Canada at the Coach Carr Classic and the Jags have now won six games in a row. San Jose has a 2-1 record against teams that have a winning record and the Jaguars are 1-1 against teams that are ranked within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings. The Jags will be off this week and return to action on January 3rd when San Jose host Ohlone.

7. Las Positas (12-1): The Hawks move up one spot in the rankings after picking up a win last week. Las Positas picked up a 98-78 win over Marin in their lone game of the week to pick up their 12th straight win. Las Positas has a 2-1 record against teams that have a winning record and have a 1-0 record against teams that are ranked within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings this season. This week, the Hawks will be off and Las Positas will return to action on December 30th when the Hawks host Redwoods.

8. Los Medanos (11-1): The Mustangs drop four spots in the rankings after suffering a loss last week for the first time this season, but still picked up two wins last week. Los Medanos picked up wins over Foothill and Mendocino but had a set back against Santa Rosa at the Kris Kringle Tournament. The Mustangs have put together a 3-1 record against winning teams and have posted a 0-1 record against teams that are ranked within our STLB week 7 rankings. This week, the Mustangs open up conference play and will take on 10th ranked Contra Costa on Wednesday evening at home.

9. Chabot (7-3): The Gladiators remain at number nine following two wins last week. Chabot knocked off De Anza and followed that up with a road win over Reedley picking up two wins and winning their fourth straight game. Chabot has put together a 1-2 record against teams that have a winning record and the Gladiators are 1-1 against teams that are ranked within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This week the Gladiators will be in action one time as Chabot faces 2nd ranked Columbia in Sonora on Wednesday.

10. Contra Costa (8-2): The Comets remain put at number ten after going 2-1 last week in Stockton. Contra Costa picked up wins over Shasta and Delta but lost in the championship game against San Francisco. The Comets are 3-1 against teams that have a winning record and Contra Costa has put together a 0-1 record against teams that are ranked within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This week, the Comets will take on 8th ranked Los Medanos on the road on Wednesday and follow that up with another road game against Napa Valley on Thursday as Bay Valley Conference action begins this week.

11. American River (7-3): The Beavers move up two spots in the rankings after picking up a win last week. American River went on the road and beat Alameda 74-68 in their lone game of the week. American River has won two straight games and the Beavers are 2-2 against teams that have a winning record. The Beavers are 1-2 against teams that are within our Signal The Light Basketball week 7 rankings. This week, American River will be off and the Beavers return to action on December 28th when they will face San Joaquin Delta at home in Big 8 Conference play.

12. Cosumnes River (9-3): The Hawks move up three spots in the rankings after posting a win last week. Cosumnes River cruised past Solano 91-74 and the Hawks have now won six of their last seven games. The Hawks have a 3-2 record against teams that have a winning record and Cosumnes River is 0-1 against teams that are ranked within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This week, the Hawks open up Big 8 Conference play action as Cosumnes River will host Folsom Lake on Wednesday for their lone game of the week.

13. Santa Rosa (7-5): The Bearcubs jump into the rankings following three wins last week at the Kris Kringle Tournament. The Bearcubs posted wins against Napa, Los Medanos and beat Yuba in the championship game to win their fourth straight game. Santa Rosa has put together a 1-5 record against teams that have a winning record and the Bearcubs have a 3-4 record against teams that are ranked. This week, the Bearcubs will look to pick up their sixth straight win when they open up conference against San Joaquin Delta on the road on Tuesday for their lone game of the week.

14. Porterville (8-2): The Pirates return to the rankings and jump in at number fourteen. Porterville went on the road and knocked off previously ranked Monterey 72-68. The Pirates have won five of their last six games and have put together a 3-2 record against teams that have a winning record and Porterville has a 0-1 record against teams that are ranked within our current week 7 Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This week, the Pirates will be in action one time as Porterville travels to Southern California and will take on Cerritos on Wednesday.

15. Monterey (11-3): The Lobos drop one spot in the rankings after suffering a set back last week. Monterey went 1-1 last week as the Lobos lost to Porterville but picked up a win over Alameda. Monterey has won 3 of their last 4 and have posted a 3-2 record against teams with winning records. The Lobos have a 1-1 record against teams that are ranked within our week 7 rankings. This week, the Lobos will be off and Monterey will return to action on Decemberr 29th when the Lobos face Contra Costa on the road.
