Week 8 Regular Season Northern California Signal The Light Basketball Rankings

  1. San Francisco (17-1): The Rams remain at the top of the rankings following six wins since our last rankings dropped. San Francisco posted wins against Alameda, Gavilan, Ohlone, Foothill, San Mateo and Canada and the Rams are currently on a 13 game winning streak. San Francisco has a 10-1 record against teams that have a winning record and the Rams are 8-1 against teams that are ranked within our STLB rankings. This week, the Rams will take on Skyline at home on Wednesday and follow that up with a road game against 10th ranked Chabot on Friday.

2. Columbia (15-0): The Claim Jumpers remain at the 2nd spot in our Norcal rankings after posting four wins since our last rankings came out. The only remaining undefeated team in the state posted wins against Chabot, Shasta, San Mateo and picked up a conference win over West Hills Lemoore in their last outing. Columbia has a 7-0 record against teams with winning records and the Claim Jumpers are 6-0 against teams that are ranked within our rankings. This upcoming week, the Claim Jumpers host 5th ranked Sequoias on Wednesday and follow that up with a road game against Merced on Saturday.

3. Las Positas (14-1): The Hawks jump into our top 5 and move up four spots in our rankings after posting two wins since our last ranking came out. Las Positas picked up wins against Redwoods and Ohlone and have won 14 straight games since losing their season opener. The Hawks have put together a 3-0 record against teams that have a winning record and have posted a 1-0 record against teams ranked within our STLB rankings this season. This upcoming week, the Hawks will take on Canada at home on Friday for their lone game of the week.

4. West Valley (14-3): The Vikings stay put in the rankings after posting a 3-1 record since our last rankings. West Valley picked up wins against Skyline, De Anza and Gavilan but had a set back against East Los Angeles. This season the Vikings are 5-3 against teams with a winning record and West Valley is 2-3 against teams that are ranked within our STLB rankings. This upcoming week, the Vikings will face 11th ranked Monterey on the road on Wednesday and follow that up with another road game against Hartnell on Friday for their two games this week.

5. Sequoias (12-3): The Giants drop two spots in the rankings following a 2-1 record since our last rankings. Sequoias picked up wins against MiraCosta and Porterville but had a hiccup against Antelope Valley. The Giants have put together a 7-3 record against teams that have a winning record and are 5-1 against teams that are in our STLB rankings. This upcoming week, the Giants will face Merced at home later tonight, and follow that up with a road game in Sonora against 2nd ranked Columbia Wednesday and end their week at home against 15th ranked Porterville on Saturday.

6. Contra Costa (11-2): The Comets move up four spots in the rankings after posting three wins since our last rankings were released. Contra Costa picked up wins against Los Medanos, Napa and Alameda and are off to a great start in Bay Valley Conference action. This season the Comets have put together a 2-1 record against teams that have a winning record and are 1-1 against teams that have a winning record. This upcoming week, the Comets will face 13th ranked Los Medanos on the road on Friday for their lone game of the week in their first game in 17 days.

7. San Mateo (13-4): The Bulldogs drop two spots in the rankings after going 3-2 since our last rankings were dropped. San Mateo lost against Columbia and San Francisco but picked up wins against De Anza, Canada and Foothill. This season the Bulldogs are 4-4 against teams that have a winning record and San Mateo is 2-4 against teams that are ranked within our week 8 STLB rankings. This upcoming week, the Bulldogs will face Ohlone on the road on Friday for their lone game of the week.

8. San Jose (15-3): The Jaguars drop two spots in the rankings after going 2-1 since our last rankings. San Jose picked up wins against Ohlone and Cabrillo but had a setback against Monterey in conference action. This season, the Jaguars are 4-2 against teams with winning records and San Jose has a 1-2 record against teams that are ranked within our rankings this season. This upcoming week, the Jaguars will face De Anza at home for their lone game of the week on Wednesday.

9. Santa Rosa (9-5): The Bearcubs move up four spots in the rankings after picking up two wins. Santa Rosa beat San Joaquin Delta and Cosumnes River in Big 8 Conference action for their sixth straight win. Santa Rosa has posted a 4-5 record against teams with a winning record and the Bearcubs are 2-4 against teams within our STLB rankings this week. This upcoming week, Santa Rosa will face Sierra tonight, travel to Sacramento on Tuesday and face San Joaquin Delta on Friday at home.

10. Chabot (8-4): The Gladiators move down one spot in the rankings after going 1-1 since our last rankings were posted. Chabot suffered a loss against Columbia but picked up a victory over Cuesta. Chabot has won five of their last six games and have posted a 2-3 record against teams that have a winning record and the Gladiators are 2-2 against teams within our STLB rankings. This upcoming week, the Gladiators will be in action three times in Coast North Conference action as Chabot will face Skyline on the road tonight, follow that up with a home game against Ohlone on Wednesday and end their week with a home game against top ranked San Francisco on Friday.

11. Monterey (12-3): The Lobos move up four spots in the rankings after picking up a win since our last poll. Monterey went on the road and knocked off San Jose in Coast South Conference action. This season the Lobos are 3-2 against teams with a winning record and have posted a 2-2 record against teams within our rankings this season. This week, the Lobos will be in action three times as Monterey will face Gavilan on the road tonight, follow that up with a home game against 4th ranked West Valley, and end the week on the road in Aptos against Cabrillo on Friday night.

12. Yuba (8-6): The 49ers come into the rankings this week after picking up two wins in conference action. Yuba picked up wins against Alameda and Los Medanos on the road in their two games in Bay Valley Conference action. This season the 49ers have put together a 3-6 record against teams with winning records and Yuba has a 1-5 record against teams within our rankings (2 losses against San Francisco). This week the 49ers will face Napa on Wednesday at home and follow that up with another home game against Alameda on Friday.

13. Los Medanos (12-3): The Mustangs drop five spots in the rankings after going 1-2 since our last poll. Los Medanos lost to Contra Costa and Yuba but did pick up a win over Merritt as the Mustangs have lost 3 of their last 5 games. This season the Mustangs have a 3-3 record against teams with a winning record and Los Medanos is 0-3 against teams ranked within our STLB week 8 rankings. This upcoming week, the Mustangs will take on Solano on the road on Wednesday and follow that up with a home game on Friday night against 6th ranked Contra Costa.

14. Folsom Lake (8-5): The Falcons check into our rankings for the first time this season after posting two victories since our last poll. Folsom Lake knocked off Cosumnes River and Modesto and the Falcons have won five straight games. This season the Falcons are 1-4 against teams with a winning record and Folsom Lake is 0-4 against teams that are ranked within our rankings. This upcoming week, Folsom Lake will face Diablo Valley tomorrow night at home, face Cosumnes River on Friday at home and then face Sierra at home on Saturday night for their third game of the week.

15. Porterville (10-4): The Pirates stay in the rankings despite being 2-2 since our polls dropped. Porterville lost on the road to Cerritos but followed that up with wins against Allan Hancock and West Hills Lemoore before losing to Sequoias at home over the weekend in conference action. This season, the Pirates have a 4-4 record against teams with a winning record and have a 1-2 record against teams that are ranked within our rankings. This upcoming week, the Pirates will face off against 5th ranked Sequoias on the road in their lone game of the week.
