Signal The Light Basketball Week 6 Northern California Rankings (December 12-18)

1. Columbia (11-1): The Claim Jumpers move into the top spot in our rankings after picking up a win last week. Columbia blew out Shasta 96-56 last week in their lone game of the week and the Claim Jumpers have won nine straight games and have started the season off winning eleven of their first twelve with their lone loss coming against Las Positas on November 5th. Columbia is 1-1 against teams that have a .500 or better record with their biggest win coming against Cabrillo. This week, the Claim Jumpers are off and Columbia will return to action on December 19th when they host 13th ranked Gavilan in a battle of ranked teams within our STLB Norcal rankings.

2. San Francisco (8-2): The Rams jump three spots in the rankings following a two win week. San Francisco picked up a 81-64 win over Santa Rosa and followed that up with a 73-72 victory over West Valley on the road. San Francisco is 2-2 against teams that have put together a winning record with their best victory coming over West Valley on the road. This week, the Rams will be playing at the Tristan Hill Holiday Tournament hosted by San Joaquin Delta. San Francisco will take on Butte in 1st round action beginning on Thursday.

3. West Valley (11-1): The Vikings drop two spots in the rankings following a 1-1 week. West Valley picked up a huge win on the road against Las Positas 94-89 but suffered a close home loss against San Francisco 73-72 in a game that could have went either way. West Valley has started the season winning 11 of their first 12 and have posted a 3-1 record against teams that have a winning record and in our eyes their biggest victory has come against Las Positas. This week, the Vikings will host Santa Barbara on Friday night and follow that up with another home game against a very solid Chabot squad the next night.

4. Redwoods (14-1): The Corsairs move up three spots in the rankings after putting together a 2-0 week. Redwoods beat Contra Costa on the road 81-64 and followed that up with a road win over Southwestern Oregon 69-68. Redwoods has started the season off winning 14 of 15 and have won seven straight games. The Corsairs are 2-1 against teams that have a winning record with their best victory coming against Sacramento within the state. This week, the Corsairs will be at the Kris Kringle Tournament hosted by Santa Rosa and face Pasadena in 1st round action on Thursday afternoon.

5. Sequoias (7-3): The Giants move up three spots in the rankings and back into our top 5 following a win last week. Sequoias went on the road and knocked off Butte 85-69 to pick up their 3rd win in their last four games. The Giants are 1-2 against teams that are above .500 and their best victory has come against Allan Hancock. This week, the Giants will be in action twice as they host two games as Sequoias will face 12th ranked Cerritos on Friday night and follow that up with another home game against 9th ranked San Mateo the next day.

6. Fresno (8-1): The Rams continue to roll and move up three spots in our rankings following a 3-0 week. Fresno has started the season off winning eight of nine and last week, the Rams picked up wins against Lassen, Modesto and Sacramento to win the Modesto Tournament and have won six straight since losing to West Valley. Fresno has a 1-1 record against teams that have a winning record with the Rams best victory coming against Sacramento. This week the Rams will be in action one time when they travel to the coast and face Cuesta on Saturday.

7. Ohlone (10-1): The Renegades drop four spots in the rankings following a 2-1 week. Ohlone played in the Modesto Tournament and saw their eight game winning streak come to an end when they lost to unranked Mendocino but followed that up with wins over West Hills Lemoore and Lassen as the Renegades have won 10 of 11 to start the season. Ohlone has put together a 3-0 record against teams that have put together a winning record with their best win coming against Diablo Valley. This week, the Renegades will be on the road and face Napa Valley on Saturday in their lone game of the week.

8. Yuba (7-2): The 49ers drop four spots in the rankings following a 1-1 week. Yuba picked up a win against Shasta but lost to a very good San Jose team and the 49ers have lost 2 of their last 3 games. Yuba is 0-2 against teams that have put together a winning record with losses coming against San Diego and San Jose this season. This week the 49ers will be at the Kris Kringle Tournament where they will face Foothill in 1st round action on Thursday.

9. San Mateo (9-2): The Bulldogs move up one spot in the rankings after picking up a win last week. San Mateo went on the road and picked up a 68-66 victory over Cabrillo for their lone victory of the week. The Bulldogs have won 2 of 3 and have put together a 2-0 record against teams that have a winning record with their best victory coming against San Jose this season. This week, the Bulldogs will be challenged as San Mateo will face two Central Valley Conference teams when they face a very good Porterville team on Friday and follow that up with another battle against 5th ranked Sequoias on Saturday night.

10. San Jose (9-3): The Jaguars move up one spot in the rankings after picking up two wins last week. San Jose went on the road and beat Diablo Valley and followed that up with a big win at home against Yuba for their fifth straight victory. This season the Jags are 5-2 against teams that have a winning record with their best victory coming against Yuba so far this season. This week, San Jose will be in action three times as the Jags will host Chabot on Tuesday, face 15th ranked Siskiyous on Thursday and end their week against Allan Hancock at home on Saturday.

11. Las Positas (8-4): The Hawks drop five spots in the rankings after going 0-2 last week. Las Positas lost twice at home as the Hawks lost to West Valley 94-89 and then losing to unranked Diablo Valley 84-75 and Las Positas is 3-3 in their last six games. This season the Hawks are 3-3 against teams that have put together a winning record this season with their best victory coming against Columbia. This week, Las Positas will be in action at home when they face Folsom Lake on Saturday for their lone game of the week.

12. Los Medanos (6-3): The Mustangs move up one spot in the rankings after picking up a win last week. Los Medanos picked up a 84-71 win on the road against Skyline for the 2nd straight win after losing to San Jose. This season, the Mustangs are 3-2 against teams that have a winning record with their best win coming against Redwoods. This week, the Mustangs will face Santa Rosa in 1st round action at the Kris Kringle Tournament in a rematch of last seasons playoff game in which Los Medanos won on a last second three pointer.

13. Gavilan (8-3): The Rams come into the rankings at number 13 following two wins last week. Gavilan picked up a 89-79 win against Foothill on the road and followed that up with a 49-42 win against Santa Rosa. Gavilan is 5-1 in their last six games and have a 2-0 record against teams that have a winning record with their best win coming against Allan Hancock. This week the Rams will be in action twice as they host West Hills Coalinga on Wednesday and follow that up with another home game against West Hills Lemoore on Friday.

14. Cabrillo (7-4): The Seahawks move down one spot in the rankings following a 1-1 week. Cabrillo picked up a 97-73 win over Merced but suffered a close home loss against San Mateo. Cabrillo is 1-2 in their last three games and the Seahawks are 0-2 against teams that have a winning record. This week, the Seahawks will host Diablo Valley on Friday for their lone game of the week.

15. Sacramento (7-5): The Panthers come into the rankings for the first time this season after a great showing at the Modesto Tournament. Sacramento picked up wins against West Hills Lemoore and Mendocino before losing to Fresno in the final. The Panthers are 4-2 in their last six games and have a 1-3 record against teams that have a winning record with their best victory coming against West Hills Lemoore. This week, Sacramento will be off and return to action on December 20th against Diablo Valley on the road as Big 8 Conference action begins.
