Hornets win state championship

Kobe Newton made seven three pointers and had 25 points and Shaquil Bender made five three pointers and had 23 points as Fullerton (32-1) won the 2022-2023 state championship with a 83-73 win over San Francisco. The Hornets were 13-28 from downtown and controlled the game throughout the night. Samy Howlin played big down low and the Hornets held off a late rally and Kobe Newton made his seventh three of the night from the corner as the Rams cut it to three points with just under two minutes left. Te’Jon Sawyer missed on the next possession and Shaquil Bender made a lay up on the other end and pushed the lead to 10 and the Hornets brought the game home. Mezziah Oakman had 15 points and 7 rebounds and EJ Neal added 14 points in the loss for San Francisco (29-4).
