Eagles still at one moving into week four

1. Mt. San Jacinto (8-0): The Eagles remain at the top of our Southern California rankings after posting two victories last week. The Eagles picked up wins against Los Angeles Pierce and Cypress and have started the season winning eight straight games. Mt. San Jacinto has only one win against teams that have a winning record but the Eagles have played extremely well and posted over 100 points four times this season. This week, the Eagles will be tested as Mt. San Jacinto will be at the Riverside Tournament and will face Riverside on Wednesday, 11th ranked East Los Angeles on Thursday and end their week against 9th ranked Saddleback on Saturday.

2. San Diego (8-2): The Knights remain at number two in our rankings after posting three straight wins and winning the Grossmont Invitational. San Diego picked up wins against Saddleback, Los Angeles Trade Tech and Yuba in the championship game for their fourth straight win. San Diego has a 5-2 record against teams that have a winning record and are 4-2 against teams that are currently ranked within our STLB rankings. This week, the Knights have another big week as San Diego will face 4th ranked Fullerton on the road on Friday and follow that up against 6th ranked West Los Angeles on Saturday night as the Knights will face two more teams that are ranked.

3. Cerro Coso (7-0): The Coyotes remain put at number three after putting together two more wins since our last rankings were released. Cerro Coso picked up wins against Cuesta and Golden West and have started the season off with seven straight wins. The Coyotes are 2-0 against teams that have a winning record and both those wins came against teams that are ranked within our rankings. This week, the Coyotes have a busy week as Cerro Coso will host Porterville on Tuesday and follow that up with another home game against 8th ranked Moorpark in a rematch of a meeting earlier this season. The Coyotes will also face San Mateo at home on Friday before hitting the road to the central valley and facing Reedley on Saturday night.

4. Fullerton (6-2): The Hornets stay put at number four in the rankings after winning two straight games last week. Fullerton picked up a road win against West Los Angeles and followed that up with a home win over San Bernardino as the Hornets have won four of their last five games. This season, Fullerton has a 2-2 record against teams that have a winning record with their two losses coming against West Valley and Moorpark. This week, the Hornets will be in action three times as Fullerton will face 12th ranked Los Angeles Southwest on Thursday, face 2nd ranked San Diego on Friday and end their week against Southwestern on Saturday evening.

5. Citrus (6-2): The Owls stay put at number five after going 2-1 in the last two weeks since our last rankings were released. Citrus knocked off Riverside and Los Angeles City but suffered a home loss against Santiago Canyon. This season the Owls have two losses against teams that are ranked and Citrus has not beat an opponent that has a winning record this season. This week, the Owls will take on San Diego Miramar on the road on Wednesday for their lone game of the week.

6. West Los Angeles (6-2): The Wildcats move up one spot in the rankings after going 3-1 since our last rankings. West Los Angeles suffered a loss against Fullerton, but picked up three straight wins knocking off Barstow, Compton and Orange Coast as the Wildcats have won five of their last six games. West Los Angeles has a 2-2 record against teams that have a winning record and are 1-2 against teams ranked within our rankings. This week, the Wildcats will face Southwestern on Thursday, follow that up with a game against 12th ranked Los Angeles Southwest on Friday and end the week facing 2nd ranked San Diego on Saturday at the Fullerton Tournament.

7. Mt. San Antonio (7-1): The Mounties move up one spot after going 2-1 since our last rankings dropped. Mt. San Antonio picked up wins against Santiago Canyon and Southwestern but had their seven game winning streak snapped losing to Chaffey on the road in overtime 93-84. The Mounties are off to a hot start despite the loss and have shown that they are an elite team in the state. Mt. San Antonio is 2-1 against teams that are ranked and have played well to start the season. This week, Mt. San Antonio will be in action one time as the Mounties will host 15th ranked Irvine Valley on Friday.

8. Moorpark (8-3): The Raiders continue to move up in the rankings after going 3-1 last week. Moorpark picked up wins against Los Angeles City, Copper Mountain and Saddleback but did suffer a loss against highly ranked Yuba in first round action at the Grossmont Invitational. Moorpark has won five of their last six games and the Raiders have put together a 4-3 record against teams that are ranked within our rankings. Moorpark has played a tough schedule and with an 8-3 record have shown to be worthy of their ranking.This week the Raiders have one game as Moorpark will travel to 3rd ranked Cerro Coso on Wednesday.

9. Saddleback (6-3): The Bobcats stay put in the rankings despite going 1-2 in the past two weeks. Saddleback picked up a win against Palomar, but lost to San Diego and Moorpark as the Bobcats have played solid despite their tough schedule to start the season. This season the Bobcats are 1-3 against teams that are ranked within our rankings as it does not get any easier for Saddleback. This week, the Bobcats will face Ventura on Wednesday, San Bernardino on Thursday and finish the week on Saturday against top ranked Mt. San Jacinto.

10. Santiago Canyon (7-3): The Hawks stay put as well despite their 1-2 record as teams across the south lost games as well. Santiago Canyon picked up a huge win against Citrus but lost against Mt. San Antonio and Santa Monica. Santiago Canyon is 2-3 in their last five games but have put together a 2-1 record against teams that have a winning record (Chaffey and Citrus). This week, the Hawks will face Los Angeles Harbor on the road on Wednesday and follow that up with a home game against Palomar on Friday evening.

11. East Los Angeles (2-2): The Huskies move up one spot in the rankings despite not playing the last two weeks. East Los Angeles has started off the season losing to two teams that are above .500 and picking and have won one game against a team that is over .500. The Huskies will be back in action this week as East Los Angeles will face San Bernardino on Wednesday, top ranked Mt. San Jacinto on Thursday and end their week against Riverside on Saturday at the Riverside Tournament.

12. Los Angeles Southwest (6-2): The Cougars move up two spots in the rankings after going 2-1 since our latest poll was released. Los Angeles Southwest lost to Ventura but followed that up with wins against Santa Monica and San Diego Miramar as the Cougars have won four of their last five games. The Cougars are 1-1 against teams that have a winning record with that win coming against San Francisco. This week, Los Angeles Southwest will have two games as the Cougars will face 4th ranked Fullerton on the road on Thursday and end their week against 6th ranked West Los Angeles on Friday night.

13. Chaffey (8-1): The Panthers enter our rankings for the first time this season after posting two victories since the last poll. Chaffey picked up wins against Glendale and Mt. San Antonio and have started the season off winners of eight of nine with their lone loss coming against Santiago Canyon. Chaffey is 2-1 against teams that have a winning record and the Panthers have won six straight games. This week the Panthers are in action twice as Chaffey will face Santa Monica at home on Wednesday and follow that up with another home game against Imperial Valley.

14. Allan Hancock (5-4): The Bulldogs take a big drop in our rankings and drop eight spots in our week four rankings. Hancock suffered a loss against two unranked opponents in Cerritos and West Hills Coalinga but did pick up a huge road win against a very good West Hills Lemoore team. Hancock is 1-3 in their last four games but the Bulldogs have put together a 2-3 record against teams that have a winning record through their difficult schedule to start the season. This week, Hancock will be in action one time as the Bulldogs will host Porterville at home on Thursday in a non conference game in Santa Maria.

15. Irvine Valley (6-2): The Lasers drop two spots down to number fifteen after going 2-2 in the past two weeks. Irvine Valley lost to Southwestern and Chabot but picked up wins against Foothill and Hartnell and moved to 6-2. Irvine Valley is 0-2 against teams that have a winning record but the Lasers have played well at the defensive end through eight games as only two opponents have scored over 60 points. This week, the Lasers will be in action one time as Irvine Valley will face 7th ranked Mt. San Antonio on the road on Friday for their lone game of the week.
