West Valley is at top for fifth straight week

1. West Valley (10-0): The Vikings remain at number one in the rankings following a 2-0 week. West Valley made a statement knocking off Las Positas 83-51 and then following that up with a road win over Chabot as the Vikings won their tenth straight game. West Valley has been the best team in the state, and have put together a 4-0 record against teams that are ranked within our rankings and have victories over Fullerton and San Diego on their resume. West Valley will be in action one time this upcoming week as the Vikings will face Merritt at home on Thursday as they look to win their 11th straight game.

2. Cabrillo (11-0): The Seahawks remain put at our number two team in Northern California following a win last week. Cabrillo went on the road and beat Napa Valley 107-78 as the Seahawks won their eleventh straight game to start the season. This season, Cabrillo has a 3-0 record against teams with a winning record and 2-0 against teams that are ranked within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This week, Cabrillo will be on the road on face Alameda in their lone game of the week.

3. San Francisco (8-2): The Rams jump two spots in the rankings despite not having a game last week due to a shake up with teams that were ranked above them. San Francisco has started the season off winners of eight of ten games and have a 4-2 record against teams within our rankings. San Francisco has two victories over Sequoias, and against a very good Moorpark team. This week, the Rams will be in Stockton at the Tristan Hill Holiday Tournament hosted by San Joaquin Delta and will face Butte in first round action on Thursday.

4. Chabot (9-3): The Gladiators drop one spot in the rankings following a loss last week. Chabot dropped a home game against top ranked West Valley 77-66 which snapped their six game winning streak. Chabot has had a solid start to the season and are 3-3 against teams that have a winning record. The Gladiators will look to get back in the win column after their last loss as Chabot will face Gavilan at home on Wednesday and follow that up with another home game on Friday night against Diablo Valley before the Christmas break.

5. Sequoias (8-2): The Giants move up two spots in the rankings due to the shake up above them and picking up three wins last week. Sequoias beat Palo Verde by 56 points, and edged Antelope Valley and Butte by a combined total of five points as the Giants moved to 8-2 on the season. This season the Giants have put together a 2-2 record against teams ranked within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings with victories over San Jose and Allan Hancock. This week, the Giants will host Cerritos College on Friday for their lone game of the week.

6. San Jose (9-2): The Jags move up two spots in the rankings after posting a victory last week. San Jose beat Los Medanos 79-70 last week in their lone game and the Jags have won four out of their last five games. This season the Jags are 5-2 against teams that have a winning record and are 1-2 against teams within our week 5 rankings. This week, the Jags will host three games at the Coach Carr Classic as San Jose will face Porterville on Thursday, Ohlone on Friday and end their week against Siskiyous on Saturday.

7. Columbia (11-1): The Claim Jumpers move up two spots in the rankings after posting a victory last weeek. Columbia went on the road and crushed American River 106-54 and have started the season winning 11 of their first 12 games. Columbia has posted a 4-1 record against teams that have a winning record but are 0-1 against teams that are ranked within our rankings with that loss coming against 2nd ranked Cabrillo. Columbia has been solid all season long and will be on the road this week as the Claim Jumpers will face Gavilan on the road on Friday for their lone game of the week.

8. Yuba (7-2): The 49ers drop four spots in our rankings following a 1-1 week. Yuba has lost two of their last three games after starting the season off 6-0. Last week, the 49ers lost to unranked Butte on the road 83-75 but followed that up with a home win against Sierra 63-40. Yuba is 3-1 against teams that have a winning record and have posted a 2-1 record against teams that are ranked within our rankings. This week, Yuba will be in action one time as the 49ers will face Copper Mountain on Thursday.

9. Merced (11-1): The Blue Devils keep winning and move up another two spots in the rankings after picking up three wins last week. Merced won the Modesto Tournament picking up wins over Lassen, Modesto and winning the championship beating Fresno 95-82. The Blue Devils have now won nine straight games since losing to Cabrillo and have a 2-1 record against teams that have a winning record and Merced is 1-1 against ranked teams with that victory coming against Skyline. This week, the Blue Devils will have the week off and Merced returns to action on December 18th when they are on the road against Canada.

10. Sacramento (10-1): The Panthers drop four spots in our rankings after suffering their first loss of the season after winning their first nine games. Sacramento finished 3rd place at the Modesto Tournament, as the Panthers knocked off West Hills Coalinga in the first round, but had a set back against unranked Fresno but finished out the tournament strong with a 107-92 victory over Modesto. The Panthers have started the season winning 10 of 11 games and have a 3-1 record against teams that have a winning record and havent faced a team within our current rankings. This week, the Panthers will be in action one time as Sacramento will face Los Medanos at home on Tuesday evening.

11. West Hills Lemoore (7-2): The Golden Eagles move up one spot after posting a victory last week. West Hills Lemoore went on the road and got a double overtime victory against Gavilan and won for the third time in four games. West Hills Lemoore has put together a 1-2 record against teams with a winning record with that victory coming against Ohlone. The Golden Eagles have lost to Mt. San Jacinto and Allan Hancock which are teams from Southern California. This week, the Golden Eagles will be on the road and travel down south and face 2nd ranked Citrus on Wednesday.

12. Monterey (10-1): The Lobos move up one spot in the rankings following three wins last week. Monterey went down to Southern California and knocked off Los Angeles Valley, Santa Barbara and Bakersfield and won the Santa Barbara Classic. Monterey has started the season off winning 10 of their first 11 games and have shown they should be a competitive team in the state. The Lobos have put together a 3-1 record against teams that have a winning record and are 0-1 against teams ranked within our week five rankings. This week, the Lobos will be in action three times as Monterey will face Siskiyous on Thursday, Porterville on Friday and finish the week off against 10th ranked Allan Hancock at the Coach Carr Classic hosted by San Jose City College.

13. Skyline (9-2): The Trojans move up one spot in the rankings following a 2-0 week. Skyline picked up wins over Hartnell and Siskiyous and the Trojans have won three straight games. Skyline has a 2-2 record against teams that have a winning record and have posted a 0-2 record against teams that are ranked within our week five rankings. This week, Skyline will face Solano on the road on Saturday night for their lone game of the week.

14. Santa Rosa (6-3): The Bearcubs re enter our rankings after dropping out early after picking up a win over Mendocino last week. Santa Rosa has won six of their last seven games and have looked like a team that is going to challenge for the Big 8 Conference championship. Santa Rosa has a 2-2 record against teams that have a winning record and are 1-2 against teams within our week five rankings. This week, the Bearcubs will be in action one time as Santa Rosa will host Feather River on Thursday and the Bearcubs will be looking for their fourth straight win.

15. Las Positas (9-3): The Hawks drop five spots in our rankings following a week which saw Las Positas drop two games. Las Positas was blown out by West Valley 83-51 and followed that up with another road loss against unranked Diablo Valley. This season the Hawks have put together a 1-2 record against teams that have a winning record with that win coming against Cosumnes River. This week, the Hawks will have two games as Las Positas will face Folsom Lake on the road on Thursday and follow that up with a home game against Porterville on Saturday.
