Vikings again at top spot as season winds down

1. West Valley (25-0): The Vikings are closing in on a Coast South Conference championship after posting two wins last week. West Valley knocked off Hartnell and Cabrillo and have complete control of the conference with three games to go. Can the Vikings go undefeated in the regular season as West Valley has put together a 14-0 record against teams that have a winning record. West Valley has wins over over Fullerton and San Diego from Socal, and have handled Fresno, San Francisco, Chabot, Cabrillo and San Jose twice. West Valley has just about clinched a top seed for the Norcal playoffs and will be in action twice as they will host Monterey on Wednesday and follow that up with another home game against Gavilan on Friday.

2. Yuba (22-2): The 49ers stay put at number two in our rankings after putting together two wins and remain unbeaten in Bay Valley Conference action. Yuba picked up wins over Alameda and Merritt and have won sixteen straight games since losing to Butte on December 6th. The 49ers hold a two game lead over Los Medanos with four games left and have put together a 7-1 record against teams that have a winning record with wins over San Francisco in Northern California, and also wins against Pasadena and Moorpark from Southern California. This week Yuba can clinch the conference title as the 49ers face Mendocino on Wednesday at home and follow that up with a road game against 10th ranked Los Medanos on Friday.

3. San Francisco (19-5): The Rams move up two spots in the rankings and find themselves at number three after picking up a win last week. San Francisco picked up a 84-80 win over Chabot and now find themselves at the top of the Coast North Conference with four games to go. This season the Rams are 12-5 against teams that have a winning record and have posted wins against Sequoias twice, Santa Rosa, San Bernardino, Moorpark, San Jose, Skyline, Ohlone, and Chabot. Their resume is fairly good and the Rams may be in the driver seat for the 2nd seed in the post season. This week, San Francisco will face Ohlone at home on Wednesday and follow that up with a road game against 14th ranked Skyline on Friday evening.

4. Cabrillo (22-3): The Seahawks drop one spot in the rankings after posting a 1-1 record last week in Coast South Conference play. Cabrillo picked up a 85-74 win over San Jose but slipped up at home against top ranked West Valley. This season the Seahawks have posted a 9-3 record against teams that have a winning record and have wins over San Jose twice, Columbia, Santa Rosa and Merced. This upcoming week, Cabrillo will be in action one time as the Seahawks will be on the road and face a dangerous Foothill team on Friday night.

5. Santa Rosa (18-6): The Bearcubs move up one spot and enter our top five for the first time this season after picking up a win last week in Big 8 Conference action. Santa Rosa won their eighth game in a row knocking off Cosumnes River 86-71 and the Bearcubs are in a tie for first place with four games to go. Santa Rosa continues to improve and have posted a 8-5 record against teams that are over .500 with wins against Redwoods twice, Skyline, Delta and Sacramento. This upcoming week, Santa Rosa will face American River on the road later tonight and follow that up with another road game against Sierra on Thursday.

6. Sacramento (21-3): The Panthers move up one spot in our rankings following two wins last week in Big 8 Conference action. Sacramento picked up wins against American River and Sierra and remain in a tie for the conference lead with four games to go. This season the Panthers have a 7-3 record against teams that have a winning record with wins against Santa Rosa, Los Medanos, Ohlone, and Redwoods. This upcoming week, the Panthers will be on the road against Cosumnes River tonight and follow that up with a huge home game against San Joaquin Delta on Thursday.

7. Sequoias (19-5): The Giants move up one spot in our rankings following two wins last week in conference action. Sequoias picked up a huge home win over Merced and followed that up with another big win on the road against West Hills Lemoore. The Giants which are in a tie for 2nd place in the Central Valley Conference have put together a 9-4 record against teams that have a winning record with wins against Allan Hancock, San Jose, Cerritos, West Hills Lemoore twice, Lemoore and Columbia and could be closing in on a top four seed as they have a couple of conference champion wins on their resume. This week the Giants will face Porterville at home on Wednesday and follow that up with another home game against West Hills Coalinga on Saturday as the season is winding down.

8. Columbia (19-5): The Claim Jumpers move up one spot in our rankings following a two win week in conference action. Columbia picked up wins over Reedley and West Hills Coalinga and the Jumpers dropped 100 points in each game but remain a game back in the conference standings in a tie for 2nd place. This season Columbia has posted a 4-4 record against teams that have a winning record with two wins coming against Cosumnes River, Sequoias and West Hills Lemoore. This week, Columbia will be road warriors as the Claim Jumpers will face 12th ranked Merced on the road tomorrow night and follow that up with another road game against Porterville on Saturday.

9. Chabot (18-7): The Gladiators drop five spots in our rankings after losing two games last week. Chabot lost on the road against San Francisco and San Mateo and have now lost three straight games after having complete control of the Coast North Conference. The Gladiators currently sit in 2nd place and have posted a 8-5 record against teams that have a winning record and Chabot has victories over San Francisco, Skyline, Fresno, Pasadena and Irvine Valley. This week, the Gladiators will try and break their losing skid as Chabot will host 14th ranked Skyline tomorrow night and follow that up with a road game against Las Positas in Livermore on Friday evening.

10. Los Medanos (17-7): The Mustangs move up two spots in our rankings after posting two wins last week in Bay Valley Conference action. Los Medanos picked up wins over Napa Valley and Solano and have won six straight games and are two games behind Yuba in 2nd place with four games to go. This season the Mustangs have a 1-7 record against teams that have a winning record with that lone win coming against Mendocino. Where will the Mustangs end up in seeding with not a lot of help from their schedule but this week, Los Medanos faces Marin tomorrow night at home and a chance to boost their chances for a higher seed if they can knock off 2nd ranked Yuba on Friday night at home.

11. Fresno (15-9): The leaders of the Central Valley Conference move up two spots in our rankings following two wins last week. Fresno knocked off Porterville and Coalinga and have won four straight games and are at the top of the conference by a game with four to go. This season the Rams have posted a 5-9 record against teams that have a winning record with wins over Columbia, Merced twice, Ohlone, and Sacramento. This upcoming week, the Rams are in action twice as Fresno will host Reedley on Wednesday and follow that up with a huge road game against 15th ranked West Hills Lemoore on Saturday.

12. Merced (18-6): The Blue Devils fall two spots in the rankings after going 1-1 last week in Central Valley Conference. Merced lost to Sequoias 66-57 but followed that up with a 73-52 win over Porterville but the Blue Devils have lost three out their last four games and have fell to fourth place in the conference. Merced has put together a 5-5 record against teams that have a winning record and the Blue Devils have wins over Skyline, Columbia, Sequoias, Fresno and Monterey. This upcoming week, the Blue Devils will host 8th ranked Columbia on Wednesday and follow that up with a road game against Reedley on Saturday.

13. San Jose (18-7): The Jags move down two spots in our rankings following a 1-1 week. San Jose fell to Cabrillo 85-74 but followed that up with a huge road win against Monterey as San Jose remains in 3rd place with three games to go. This season the Jags have posted a 8-7 record against teams that have a winning record with wins coming against San Diego, Fresno, Los Medanos, Ohlone, Chabot and Monterey twice. The Jags could pick up a fairly high seed still despite their third place finish but will be in action once this week as San Jose will host Gavilan tomorrow night for their lone game of the week.

14. Skyline (18-7): The Trojans re enter our rankings following two wins last week in Coast North Conference action. Skyline picked up wins over Ohlone and Canada and have won three out of their last four games and are in a tie for third place at the moment. This season the Trojans have put together a 5-7 record against teams that have a winning record with wins coming against Los Medanos, West Hills Lemoore, Monterey and Ohlone. This week is a huge week for the Trojans as Skyline will face 9th ranked Chabot on the road tomorrow night and follow that up with a home game against 3rd ranked San Francisco.

15. West Hills Lemoore (16-7): The Golden Eagles remain in our rankings and drop one spot after a 1-1 week. West Hills Lemoore knocked off Reedley but suffered a 87-71 home loss against Sequoias and sit in a tie in fourth place in the Central Valley Conference with four games to go. This season the Golden Eagles have put together a 4-6 record against teams that have a winning record with wins over Ohlone, Citrus, Merced and Fresno. This upcoming week, Lemoore will face West Hills Coalinga on Wednesday and follow that up with a huge home game against conference leader and 11th ranked Fresno on Saturday.
