The Southern California Juco Jamboree is scheduled to take place this upcoming weekend as 64 teams will be in action at Cerritos and Rio Hondo College. The three day event is scheduled to tip off at noon on Friday afternoon and close out play early Sunday evening. Many college coaches are scheduled to be in attendance at the event where players will be able to showcase their talents throughout the weekend. The event will be the biggest on the west coast (junior college) and it will give us a first chance to see teams for the upcoming 2022-2023 season. 21 of the 22 teams that made the post season in Southern California will be playing and 8 teams that made the post season from Northern California are scheduled to take the floor over the weekend. West Los Angeles, Las Positas, West Valley, Citrus, MiraCosta, San Bernardino, and Sequoias which made the Elite Eight last season will be highlighting the field after coming off a successful season. San Diego, Fullerton, Contra Costa, Riverside, Santiago Canyon, Cerritos, Hancock, and Ventura are other powerhouses that will be in action. “This will be a great weekend for junior college basketball in California,” said John Bynum. It is fairly early but the event will show us who has a chance to be good and also a great chance for individual talent to be recognized at the event. “The overall goal should be about improving as a team, but at the same time it is a great chance for players to get some exposure and get on some radars from schools at the next level,” added Bynum.
