1. Yuba (22-2): The 49ers are flirting with a top 4 seed coming into the playoff season as Yuba has posted a 22-2 record. Yuba is undefeated in conference action and the 49ers are on a 16 game winning streak and are 12-0 in the Bay Valley Conference. Yuba has not lost a game since December 8th when the 49ers lost to San Jose 83-76. The 49ers other loss this season was against San Diego at the Grossmont Tournament on December 4th. The only question mark could be if the 49ers have enough quality wins outside of conference wins with victories over Butte, Delta (who is in the Big 8 championship hunt), Redwoods and Foothill. Will that be enough quality wins compared to other teams in the hunt of the top 4 in Northern California. The 49ers have four games remaining in the regular season and have Contra Costa and Los Medanos still left on their schedule. If the 49ers can pick up those two wins and remain unbeaten in conference we could see them move up in the seeding process.

2. Los Medanos (17-6): The Mustangs will be a post season team as Los Medanos has a solid record and currently sit in 2nd place in the Bay Valley Conference by a half game with a record of 9-2. Los Medanos has conference losses against Yuba and Contra Costa but have played solid basketball all season long. In non conference the Mustangs have victories against Siskiyous and Redwoods and suffered losses against Las Positas, Contra Costa, Yuba and San Jose in non conference action. Los Medanos still have Marin, and Yuba at home, but still have to go to Mendocino, Merritt and Solano. If the Mustangs can beat Marin and pick up a win over Yuba we could see their seeding get into the 6-8 range, but at the moment the Mustangs are around the 9-12 range due to their quality of non conference wins.

3. Contra Costa (16-8): The Comets will be another team that gets into the post season from the Bay Valley Conference as Contra Costa sits in 3rd place at the moment with a 9-3 record and trail Los Medanos by a 1/2 game in the standings. Contra Costa is 3-3 in their last six games with losses against Los Medanos, Marin and Yuba and still have Mendocino, Merritt, Solano and Yuba on the road left in their last four games. The Comets played a great non conference schedule and picked up victories over Cosumnes River, Columbia, Los Medanos, Foothill, and Sacramento. The Comets non conference losses came against Columbia, West Valley, Redwoods, San Francisco and San Mateo (bubble team). Contra Costa could still wind up in the 6-8 range but a win against Yuba could put them in that position but there is not a lot of room for a slip up in their next games for that to happen.

4. Marin (11-12): The Mariners are right on that bubble with Marin being one game under .500 but are right there to say the least. Marin is 5-1 in their last six games and are making a push to get into the post season. In non conference, the Mariners struggled as Marin does not have a lot of quality wins (Skyline and everyone else under .500) but a win over Contra Costa last night surely helped. In conference action, Marin has picked up their play and if the Mariners can pick up a win on the road against Los Medanos it should get them into the post season. Marin still has Napa Valley, Alameda, and Mendocino and can’t afford any slip ups to solidify a possible spot of getting into the post season moving forward.
