Monterey picks up double overtime victory over Merced to open season.

San Jose Tip Off Classic

Parker Hunt had 19 points, 13 rebounds, and 8 blocks and Vincent Cooke added 18 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists as Monterey (1-0) picked up a 88-79 double overtime victory over Merced (0-1).

Mason Ryan and David Galentine each scored 15 points as 9th ranked San Jose cruised to a 89-49 home opening win over Lassen (0-1) earlier today. Marcell Ireland Jr. had 10 points in the loss for the Cougars.

12th ranked San Mateo (1-0) used a late second half surge to slip passed Delta 84-75. Kendrick Curry had 22 points and Vince Olmo added 21 points for Delta (0-1) in the loss.

O’Fallon and Singui Classic Showcase

In the game of the day, freshman Sean Newman scored 22 points and Kobe Newton added 17 points as 2nd ranked Fullerton (2-0) used a late second half surge to cruise passed 5th ranked San Bernardino 81-65. Dominique Daniels and Brandon Thompson each had 13 points in the loss for San Bernardino (0-1).

Matthew Mayes had 17 points and TJ Waldon added 15 points and two other Wildcat players scored in double figures as 4th ranked West Los Angeles (1-0) cruised to a 108-77 win over Los Angeles Pierce (0-1). Zion White had 16 points and 4 rebounds and Larry Williams added 14 points in the loss for the Bhramas.

In the final game of the day, Daiquan Copeland tipped in 2 of his 19 points with 5 seconds left to go as 11th ranked Santa Monica (1-0) survived a late second half rally to hold off Cypress 70-69. Quinn Collins added 13 points and 8 rebounds for the Corsairs. Grant Sii and Tommie Flanagan each had 15 points for Cypress (0-1) in the loss.

Clash at Canyons

Christian Taylor had 28 points and 11 rebounds and Mateo Fernandez Solari added 18 points and 6 steals as Barstow (1-0) slipped past Cuyamaca 77-71 in Valencia. Jake Pfitzner had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Ray King added 12 points and 5 assists in the loss for Cuyamaca (0-2).

Cameron McRae had 15 points and Aaron Reyes added 13 points and 12 rebounds as Canyons (1-0) used a big second half to cruise past Oxnard 102-82 in the Cougars home opener. James Webster had 31 points and 10 rebounds and Chrys Jackson added 18 points in the loss for Oxnard (0-1).

Oxnard and Cuyamaca will face off tomorrow in the consolation championship game at 1pm and Barstow will face tournament host Canyons in the championship game at 3pm.

Nick Gehler Memorial Tournament

In first round action, Noah Woodby had 15 points and Andrew Milot added 14 points and 5 assists as Palomar (1-0) picked up their first victory of the season and advanced to the semi finals with a 91-73 win over Orange Coast (0-1).

In game two of the tournament, Cam Berry had 31 points and Alex Mirhosseini added 11 points as Miramar (1-0) beat Rio Hondo 74-59 in first round action. Miramar will face Palomar tomorrow in the semi finals at 4pm, while Rio Hondo (0-1) will take on Orange Coast in the losers bracket at 12pm.

In game three of the day, MiraCosta (1-0) picked up their first win of the season with a 69-59 win over Golden West (0-1). In the finale of the night, top ranked San Diego (1-0) used a big second half to surge past Copper Mountain 91-71. Jonathan Ogugua and Graham Cook each had 18 points for the Knights in the win. Tyler Hudson had 25 points and Mikah Blackwell added 10 points in the loss for Copper Mountain (0-1). MiraCosta will face top ranked San Diego City College tomorrow at 6pm and Copper Mountain will take on Golden West in the loser side of the bracket at 2pm.

Gladiator Classic

Porterville moved to 2-0 with a 87-67 win over Ohlone (0-1) in first round action earlier today. Cameran Thomas had 27 points and Jorden Gilmete added 22 points in the loss for the Renegades.

5th ranked Chabot (1-0) escaped an opening day upset as the Gladiators slipped past Shasta 66-64. Chabot will face Porterville (2-0) in the semi finals at 4pm and Shasta (0-1) will take on Ohlone in the losers bracket at 12pm tomorrow.

In other action, Lawvan Johns scored 15 points as Canada (1-0) beat the Simpson JV to advance to the semi finals tomorrow.

In the final game of the night, Feather River (1-0) picked up a 80-79 victory over Reedley (0-1). Dwayne Howell had 20 points and Jamar Bowers added 18 points for the Tigers in the loss. Feather River will take on Canada tomorrow and Reedley will face the Simpson JV in the consolation bracket.

Ventura We Play Hard Tournament

Jonathan Daniels had 15 points and Emani Scott added 14 points as Antelope Valley (1-0) picked up an season opening 63-49 win over Victor Valley (0-1). Dervion Manning had 13 points in the loss for the Rams.

In the second game of the evening three Riverside (1-0) players scored over 20 points and the Tigers knocked off Moorpark 96-85 in day one action. Lynden Paul had 24 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds, Zekiah Lovett added 23 points and Robert Ayala added 22 points for Riverside in the win. Deon Francois had 27 points and Ben Condra added 16 points in the loss for Moorpark (0-1).

In the night cap, Anthony McIntyre scored 17 points, and Adrian McIntyre added 13 points as 8th ranked Ventura (1-0) made a defensive statement with a 78-37 win over Pasadena (0-1). Jordan Flowers had 13 points in the loss for the Lancers.

Tony Costello Tip Off

Kennami Maggard had 19 points and Jason Holman added 18 points as Los Medanos (1-0) blew past Sacramento 86-61 in day one action. Chris Gray had 22 points and 15 rebounds and Khyri Marshall added 12 points in the loss for Sacramento (0-1).

In game one of the Sequoias Classic, American River (1-0) picked up a 92-88 victory over 8th ranked Fresno (0-1). Stephen Perry had 26 points and Asrin Hackett added 14 points for the Rams in the loss.

In the second game of the night, Palo Verde (1-1) came into Visalia and upset 4th ranked College of the Sequoias 68-59. Dominique Johnson had 19 points and 6 rebounds and Larry Hemingway Jr. added 16 points and 9 rebounds in the win for Palo Verde. Seth Dawson had 14 points and 7 assists and Conner Jackson added 12 points and 7 rebounds for Sequoias (0-1) who shot 5-30 from downtown in their home opener.

Dana Pagett Tip Off

In a low scoring affair Joel Finney scored 14 points and Joshua Lee added 11 points as Glendale (2-0) won their second straight game edging Santa Ana 58-51 earlier this afternoon. Ben Ahinaquah had 15 points and 9 rebounds for Santa Ana (0-2) in the loss.

In the second game of the Dana Pagett Tip off Aaron Wadman scored 14 points and Erik Howlin added 13 points as 6th ranked Santiago Canyon (1-0) held off Long Beach 82-75 in a tight opener for both teams. Bonard Johnson Jr. had 17 points and Shane Hunter added 13 points in the loss for Long Beach (0-1).
