San Francisco, Cabrillo and Desert Tournaments begin today

San Francisco City Tip-Off Classic

The prestigious San Francisco City College Tip-Off Classic will begin later today and will see four ranked teams on the stage for three days. The tournament will feature 3rd ranked East Los Angeles, 6th ranked Yuba, 7th ranked Santa Rosa and Northern California’s top team San Francisco City.

In day one action which begins at 5pm, 3rd ranked East Los Angeles will face 7th ranked Santa Rosa in a battle of two teams that were scheduled to play at the Elite Eight in 2019-2020 before Covid shut the post season down. The Huskies are making the trip from Southern California and will look to knock off the Bearcubs who are looking to have another successful season. In game 2, top ranked San Francisco will open up their state championship run against 6th ranked Yuba in a game of two Northern California power houses.

Day two will be another solid day of basketball as Yuba will take on East Los Angeles and Santa Rosa and San Francisco will face eachother in a battle of ranked teams within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings.

In the final day of the tournament, Yuba will take on Santa Rosa at 1pm and at 3pm the nation will be tuned into 3rd ranked East Los Angeles and top ranked San Francisco in a game that many feel could be the state championship game.

Seahawk Classic – Aptos, CA

Four Northern California teams and two ranked STLB Norcal teams will take part in a two day event beginning later today at 5pm. 15th ranked Redwoods (1-0) coming off an impressive home victory over 10th ranked Mendocino will take on Gavilan (0-0) in the first game of the event. Napa (0-0) and 11th ranked Cabrillo (0-0) will get their season underway at 7pm in a battle of two Northern California teams.

On day two of the event, Gavilan will face off against Napa at 5pm and Redwoods will take on another ranked opponent as the Corsairs will take on tournament host Cabrillo in the finale of the tournament.

Frank Garcia Tip Off Basketball Tournament – Palm Desert, CA

Four teams including two ranked teams within our Signal The Light Basketball Southern California rankings will take part in the Frank Garcia Tip Off Tournament later on today. 9th ranked Mt. San Jacinto (0-0) will open up the season and face 14th ranked Cerritos (0-0) in the opener for both teams at 5pm. The Eagles are looking to start the season off on the right foot with a victory against a ranked opponent. In the night cap, Desert will host Los Angeles Southwest (0-0) as both teams will look to pick up the win in day one action.

In the second day on Saturday, Los Angeles Southwest will face 9th ranked Mt. San Jacinto as action begins in 3pm. In the final game of the day, 14th ranked Cerritos will look to pick up a win against Desert.
