Week 8 Regular Season Southern California Signal The Light Basketball Rankings

  1. Fullerton (13-1): The Hornets remain at the top of the Southern California rankings after our last poll dropped in 2021. Since the last time we did our rankings, Fullerton has had one game and the Hornets picked up a win against Orange Coast for their fifth straight win since losing to Los Angeles Southwest. Fullerton have posted a 6-1 record against teams that have winning records and are 6-1 against teams within our rankings. This upcoming week, Fullerton will face 11th ranked Riverside on the road on Wednesday and follow that up with a home game against 10th ranked Saddleback at home on Friday.

2. San Bernardino (10-3): The Wolverines remain at number two coming into this week. San Bernardino picked up a conference win over Cerro Coso 122-73 in their last outing. The Wolverines have won nine of their last ten games and have posted a 6-3 record against teams that have winning records and are 6-3 as well against teams ranked within our Signal The Light Basketball rankings. This week, the Wolverines are scheduled to be in action twice as San Bernardino will be on the road against Barstow on Wednesday and follow that up with a tough road test against Mt. San Jacinto on Saturday.

3. Santiago Canyon (13-1): The Hawks remain posted at number three coming into our new week of rankings. Santiago Canyon has had one win since our last rankings were posted as the Hawks went on the road and knocked off Riverside 89-79 in Orange Empire Conference play. Santiago Canyon has won ten games straight and the Hawks are 7-0 against teams that have a winning record and Santiago Canyon has posted a 4-0 record against teams ranked inside our week 8 rankings. This upcoming week, Santiago Canyon will be in action twice as the Hawks will face Santa Ana at home on Wednesday and then take on 15th ranked Irvine Valley on Friday.

4. Ventura (14-2): The Pirates remain at number four since our last rankings after going 2-0 since that time. Ventura picked up wins against Santa Barbara and Los Angeles Pierce after losing their previous two games up north. The Pirates have a 8-2 record against teams that have a winning record and Ventura has a 3-2 record against teams ranked inside of our STLB rankings. This week the Pirates will take on Oxnard on the road in their lone game of the week.

5. San Diego (13-3): The Knights remain at number five in the rankings after picking up two wins since our last rankings. San Diego went on the road and knocked off San Diego Miramar and followed that up with a huge win against Palomar 89-53. The Knights have won four games in a row and have a 6-3 record against teams that have a winning record. San Diego is 3-2 against teams that are ranked within our STLB rankings. This week, the Knights are scheduled for two games as San Diego will face MiraCosta on the road on Wednesday and follow that up with a home game against Grossmont on Friday.

6. West Los Angeles (11-3): The Wildcats stay put at number six coming into our week 8 rankings. West Los Angeles picked up two victories since we last did our rankings as the Wildcats knocked off Glendale and picked up a huge conference win against Citrus at home. West Los Angeles is 6-3 against teams that have posted a winning record and have a 3-3 record against teams within our STLB week 8 rankings. This upcoming week, the Wildcats will take on Antelope Valley later on tonight, then face Bakersfield on Wednesday and follow that up with a road game against Canyons for three games this week.

7. East Los Angeles (15-4): The Huskies continue to roll and move up three spots in our new rankings. East Los Angeles has won seven straight games and are 6-0 since our last rankings hit the wire. East Los Angeles picked up wins over Cuyamaca, Golden West, El Camino, West Valley, Los Angeles Harbor and Compton. East Los Angeles has posted a 7-4 record against teams that have winning records and the Huskies are 5-4 against teams ranked within our week 8 rankings. This upcoming week, East Los Angeles will face Rio Hondo on the road on Wednesday and follow that up with another road game against Los Angeles Trade Tech on Friday.

8. Los Angeles Southwest (10-4): The Cougars drop one spot in our rankings after going 0-1 since we dropped our rankings. Los Angeles Southwest suffered a 94-73 loss against Mt. San Antonio in their last outing. This season, the Cougars have a 2-3 record against teams that have a winning record and are 1-4 against teams that are ranked within our rankings. This upcoming week, Los Angeles Southwest will face off against Cerritos on Wednesday at home and follow that up with another home game against Long Beach on Friday for their two games of the week.

9. Citrus (10-5): The Owls stay put at number nine after going 1-1 since our last rankings were released. Citrus suffered a setback against West Los Angeles on the road, but picked up a 102-77 victory over Glendale. This season the Owls are 5-5 against teams that have a winning record and have put together a 3-5 record against teams ranked within our STLB rankings. This upcoming week, the Owls will face Los Angeles Valley on the road later tonight and follow that up with a home game against Canyons on Wednesday and end their competitive week with a road game against Antelope Valley on Saturday.

10. Saddleback (10-4): The Bobacats move up four spots after posting a victory in their lone game since our rankings were released. Saddleback picked up a win over Victor Valley in their last outing an have not played a game since December 21st. Saddleback has a 3-3 record against teams that have posted a winning record and have put together a 0-2 record against teams that are ranked within our STLB rankings. This upcoming week the Bobcats are scheduled to face 15th ranked Irvine Valley on Wednesday at home and follow that up with a road game against top ranked Fullerton on Friday on the road.

11. Riverside (11-5): The Tigers move up two spots in our week 8 rankings after going 2-1 since we last posted our rankings. Riverside picked up wins against Santa Ana and Irvine Valley but suffered a loss against Santiago Canyon in their last outing. This season the Tigers are 4-4 against teams that have a winning record and have a 2-4 record against teams ranked within our rankings. This upcoming week, Riverside will face top ranked Fullerton in their lone game of the week on Wednesday at home.

12. Cerro Coso (12-3): The Coyotes move down one spot after going 1-1 since our last rankings were posted. Cerro Coso picked up a win over Palo Verde but had a setback against San Bernardino. This season the Coyotes are 6-3 against teams that have a winning record and are 1-3 against teams that are ranked within our STLB rankings. This upcoming week, the Coyotes will face Mt. San Jacinto on the road later on tonight, face Copper Mountain on Wednesday at home and follow that up with a road game at Desert on Saturday.

13. Mt. San Antonio (11-4): The Mounties enter our rankings at number 13 this week after not being ranked in our last poll. Mt. San Antonio has won four straight games and have victories over El Camino, Los Angeles Southwest and Los Angeles Harbor since our last poll came out. The Mounties are 4-3 against teams that have a winning record and Mt. San Antonio is 3-3 against teams that are ranked within our STLB rankings. This upcoming week, the Mounties will face Pasadena on Wednesday at home and follow that up with a home game on Friday against Rio Hondo.

14. Los Angeles Harbor (9-4): The Seahawks drop six spots in the rankings after going 1-3 since our last poll came out. Los Angeles Harbor picked up a win against Antelope Valley but lost to Cuesta, East Los Angeles and Mt. San Antonio and have lost three straight games. This season the Seahawks are 5-3 against teams that have a winning record and have a 1-3 record against teams that are ranked within our rankings. This upcoming week, the Seahawks will look to get back on track as Los Angeles Harbor will take on Compton at home on Wednesday and follow that up with a road game at Cerritos on Friday.

15. Irvine Valley (9-5): The Lasers drop three spots after going 2-1 since our last poll was released. Irvine Valley picked up wins against El Camino and Orange Coast but lost against Riverside. This season the Lasers are 2-5 against teams that have a winning record and Irvine Valley has a 2-3 record against teams ranked inside our week 8 rankings. This upcoming week, the Lasers will take on 10th ranked Saddleback on Wednesday on the road and follow that up with a home game against 3rd ranked Santiago Canyon on Friday.

Signaling a Light: Canyons (9-5), Bakersfield (9-4), Cerritos (8-6), Palomar (9-5), Cypress (9-6)
