Alvin Hunter Classic – San Bernardino, CA

In the championship game at the Alvin Hunter Classic, Naeem Lewis had 24 points and 8 rebounds and Gavin Davis added 22 points and 7 rebounds as unranked West Los Angeles (5-1) overcame an eight point halftime deficit and slipped past 4th ranked East Los Angeles 85-80 on Sunday to bring home the Alvin Hunter Classic championship. Corey Cofield II had 17 points and 8 rebounds and Jon Sanders added 15 points in the loss for East Los Angeles (2-1) who missed 12 free throws in the loss.

In the 3rd place game of the tournament, James Burries had 32 points and 10 rebounds and Elijah Al-Debaran added 21 points as 14th ranked Saddleback (4-2) picked up a 90-84 win in overtime against 3rd ranked San Bernardino (1-2). The Bobcats made 15 three pointers and got hot late as Saddleback shot 51% from downtown in the game. Sophomore Dominique Daniels had 31 points and 10 assists and Armon Muldrew added 30 points in the loss for the Wolverines which went down for the second straight night.

In the consolation final, Jack Benyshek had 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists and Jamal Unuakhalu added 16 points and 16 rebounds as Moorpark (3-2) used a huge 2nd half and overcame a 7 point halftime deficit to beat Santa Monica 86-72 for the consolation championship. Cam Cohn had 17 points and Chianti Clay Jr added 12 points in the loss for Santa Monica (2-4).

In the 7th place game, Compton cruised to a 100-74 win to pick up their first win of the season.
