There are some changes in this weeks Signal The Light Basketball Norcal rankings as Yuba takes over the top spot in the rankings after San Francisco suffered their first loss of the season. West Valley moves up to number three followed by Columbia and San Mateo round off our top 5. Gavilan, Cosumnes River and Redwoods dropped out of our rankings and West Hills Lemoore, Fresno and Los Medanos enter our week 3 rankings.

Signal The Light Basketball week 3 Northern California Rankings

1. Yuba (2-0): The 49ers are at the top of the week 3 rankings following San Francisco’s loss to Fullerton. Yuba cruised to a 80-62 victory over Butte last week in their lone game of the week. This season, the 49ers have averaged 21 points per victory in their two wins this season. This week, the 49ers will be in action one time as Yuba will take on Lassen on the road on Tuesday.

2. San Francisco (5-1): The Rams move down a spot in the rankings after going 1-1 in Visalia last week. San Francisco suffered a 105-102 overtime loss against Fullerton but followed that up with a 120-61 win over Cosumnes River the following day. San Francisco has not been challenged by a team in Northern California and will be off until December 2nd when they will face College of the Sequoias at home.

3. West Valley (7-0): The Vikings have not missed a beat since losing in the state championship last season and move up two spots to number three. West Valley beat Alameda, Merced, and Foothill last week to win their seventh straight game. West Valley’s closest game has been nine points and will be in action this week when they travel to Stockton and face San Joaquin Delta on Wednesday for their lone game of the week.

4. Columbia (4-1): The Claimjumpers come into the top five for the first time this season and move up two spots in our weekly rankings. Last week, Columbia picked up a 79-70 win over Modesto in their lone game of the week and the ClaimJumpers have started the season winning four of their first five games. This week, Columbia will face American River at home on Tuesday, follow that up with another home game against Lassen on Saturday and end the week with another home game against Folsom Lake.

5. San Mateo (6-0): The Bulldogs move up three spots in our rankings and into our top five for the first time this season. Last week, San Mateo picked up victories over Cuesta and Contra Costa by a combined win toatl of three points. San Mateo has started the season off with six straight wins and are 5-0 in games decided by five points or less this season. This week, the Bulldogs will travel to Modesto on Tuesday in their lone game of the week as San Mateo will look to win their seventh straight game.

6. Sequoias (4-2): The Giants drop four spots in the rankings after losing two games last week. Sequoias lost to Los Angeles Southwest and Fullerton at home for their first two losses of the season. Sequoias will look to get back on track this week as the Giants will travel to Salinas and face Hartnell on Wednesday for their long game of the week.

7. Las Positas (5-1): The Hawks move up two spots in the rankings following a win last week. Las Positas picked up a 84-76 win over Napa Valley in their lone game of the week as the Hawks have now won five of six to start the season. This week, Las Positas will be in action on Wednesday as the Hawks will face unranked San Jose on the road.

8. Contra Costa (3-2): The Comets move down one spot in the rankings after going 1-1 last week. Last week Contra Costa got a win against Foothill but suffered a loss against San Mateo. Moving forward the Comets will be in action this week on Saturday against Sacramento at home in their lone game of the week.

9. Porterville (3-2): The Pirates move up one spot in the rankings after picking up two wins last week. Porterville cruised past Desert 111-61 and followed that up with a huge win against a very good West Los Angeles team last week after two straight losses the week before. This week will be another tough week for the Pirates as Porterville will face 14th ranked Moorpark on the road and follow that up with another road game against Ventura on Wednesday.

10. Chabot (4-2): The Gladiators drop six spots in the rankings after going 1-2 last week at the Shasta Invitational. Chabot picked up a 76-66 win over Shasta but lost big to winless at the time Santa Rosa 74-56 and followed that up with another loss against unranked Merritt. Chabot will look to get back on track this week as they will travel on the road and face Monterey on Tuesday for their lone game of the week.

11. Ohlone (5-0): The Renegades stay put in the rankings after picking up a win last week. Ohlone picked up a road win against Monterey 71-63 for their fifth straight win to start the season. Ohlone will be in action one time this week as the Renegades will host De Anza on Wednesday looking to win their sixth straight to start the season.

12. Cabrillo (4-1): The Seahawks stay put in the rankings after winning three games last week at the Shasta Invitational. Cabrillo beat Santa Rosa, Merritt and American River and have now won four wins in a row since dropping their season opener to San Joaquin Delta. This week, Cabrillo will be in action on the road against Cuesta on the road on Saturday evening as the Seahawks look for their fifth straight win.

13. Fresno (5-1): The Rams enter the rankings for the first time this season picking up three wins last week. Fresno beat De Anza on the road and picked up home wins against Canada and San Joaquin Delta as the Rams have started the season winning five of their first six games. Fresno will be off for a hot minute and return to action on December 17th on the road against Cuesta so we could see the Rams in our rankings for a minute.

14. Los Medanos (4-2): The Mustangs enter our rankings at number 14 after winning the Mendocino Tournament last week. Los Medanos picked up wins against Feather River, Redwoods and Siskiyous this past week to move to 4-2. The win against Redwoods handed the Corsairs their first loss of the season and the Mustangs have lost against Las Positas and Contra Costa this season in their two losses (teams ranked within our top 10). This week the Mustangs will be off this week and return to action on November 29th when they host San Jose.

15. West Hills Lemoore (5-2): The Golden Eagles enter our rankings for the first time this season after posting two wins last week. Lemoore picked up wins against Desert and West Los Angeles and have won five straight games since dropping their first two against Cuesta and undefeated Los Angeles Harbor. West Hills Lemoore is off this week and will return to action on November 30th when the Golden Eagles face Bakersfield at home.
