Chabot hands Monterey first loss of season

Monterey Bay Classic – Monterey, CA

In the championship game of the Monterey Bay Classic, Noah Thomas had 19 points and Marcelles Edwards added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists as 4th ranked Chabot (9-2) cruised to a 88-67 victory over 11th ranked Monterey (7-1). Malik Ross had 14 points and Kenneth Brown added 14 points for the Lobos who were handed their first loss of the season.

In the 3rd place game of the tournament, Amari Thomas had 16 points and Po’okela Aiu added 12 points as Porterville (5-4) picked up a 59-47 win over Sierra (2-6).

In the consolation championship, Jessie Stines had 20 points and 10 rebounds and Ammon Allan added 15 points and 8 rebounds as13th ranked Irvine Valley (6-2) picked up a 58-45 win over Hartnell (3-6) in a defensive battle.

In the 7th place game of the tournament, Jaylin Leslie had 19 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists and Kendall Winston added 14 points and 5 assists as Foothill (4-4) pickedup a 78-50 win over Santa Barbara (2-8).

Wild West Shootout Culver City, CA

Blake Lander had 22 points and 14 rebounds and Marland Harris added 19 points and 17 rebounds as 7th ranked West Los Angeles (6-2) won their own tournament with a 83-69 victory over Orange Coast (5-4). Sam Hunter had 23 points and Isaac Padilla added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the loss for the Pirates.

In the 3rd place game of the tournament, Franklyn Chambers had 27 points and Brandon Cerda added 17 points as Long Beach (4-4) cruised past Compton 76-52 to take home third place. Jake TenBerge had 16 points and 9 rebounds in the loss for Compton (3-6).

In the consolation championship game, Derrien Carter-Hollinger had 19 points and Ayden Lockett added 11 points as Southwestern (5-4) picked up a 59-53 win over Rio Hondo (2-7). Bryant Handley had 14 points and 9 rebounds in the loss for the Roadrunners.

In the 7th place game of the tournament, Kory Blunt had 24 points and Justin Watson added 13 points as Los Angeles Valley (2-3) overcame an early deficit and picked up a 83-72 win over Barstow (1-4). Tajon Perkins-Bell and Jalen Blanchard each had 16 points in the loss for the Vikings.

Saltwater Classic – Aptos, CA

In the semi finals at the Salt Water Classic, 8th ranked Columbia (10-0) won their state leading 10th game with a 77-73 victory over San Mateo (4-6).

In the second semi final, Darius Best had 19 points and Jalen Cunningham added 12 points as 3rd ranked Cabrillo (9-0) won their 9th straight game and advanced to the tournament championship game with a 102-72 win over Folsom Lake (4-4). Micah Hobson had 19 points and Te’And Indalecio added 12 points in the loss for the Falcons. Cabrillo will next face Columbia in the title game and Folsom Lake will take on San Mateo in the 3rd place game.

In the consolation bracket, TJ Steed had 22 points and Jerel Victor added 15 points as Feather River (3-6) advanced to the consolation championship with a 78-66 victory over Merritt (1-7). Kymani Ladi had 20 points in the loss.

In the second consolation game, Anthony Montoya made six three pointers and had 24 points and Jessy Maximim added 15 points as Butte (3-6) advanced to the consolation final with a 88-64 win over Alameda (1-8). Butte will take on Feather River in the consolation final, and Alameda will take on Merritt in the 7th place game.

James Clark ClassicSacramento, CA

In final day action at Cosumnes River College, Alex Martin had 16 points and 6 rebounds and Sterling McClanahan added 16 points as 12th ranked Las Positas (9-1) continued to roll crusing past Shasta 79-47. Benjamin Keown had 14 points and 5 rebounds in the loss for Shasta (1-9).

In the other game of the day, Karlos Zepeda had 21 p oints and Antonio Tercero added 19 points and 6 rebounds as Cosumnes River (5-3) picked up a 80-74 edged Lassen 80-74. Erin Chamble and Qshawn On’gele added 20 points in the loss for Lassen (4-11).

The Siskiyous and Reedley game was postponed.

Grossmont Invitational – El Cajon, CA

In day two action in Southern California, Devan Minouei had 16 points and 4 rebounds and Caden Flowers added 14 points and 6 assists as 2nd ranked Yuba (6-0) advanced to the championship game with a 92-62 victory over Grossmont (2-5).

In the 2nd semi final of the night, Dexter Stratton had 19 points and 11 rebounds and Keavie Love added 17 points and 6 rebounds as 2nd ranked San Diego (7-2) dominated Los Angeles Trade Tech 93-55 to advance to the championship game. Omari Ferguson had 19 points and Ronnie Davis added 12 points and 5 rebounds for LA Trade Tech (4-3) in the loss. San Diego will next face Yuba in the championship game and Los Angeles Trade Tech will take on Grossmont in the 3rd place game.

In the consolation bracket, James Burries had 21 points and Jackson Gray added 18 points as 9th ranked Saddleback (6-2) picked up a 69-59 win over Palomar (5-4). Kryztian Walton had 15 points and 12 rebounds and Tore Andre Gray added 14 points in the loss for the Comets.

In the 2nd consolation game, Jack Benyshek had 23 points and Jamal Unuakalu added 13 points and 18 rebounds as 11th ranked Moorpark (7-3) cruised to a 81-59 victory over Copper Mountain (3-4). Jacob Pearson had 19 points and Levin Holloway added 13 points in the loss for the Fightin Cacti. Copper Mountain will take on Palomar in 7th place game, and Moorpark will take on Saddleback in the consolation champioinship in a battle of ranked teams within our Southern California rankings.

Gregg Anderson Memorial Tournament – Lancaster, CA

In the first semi final game in Lancaster, Jalen Vazquez and Kaiden Fine each scored 15 points as Pasadena (3-4) picked up a 76-63 win over Ventura (4-5). Caleb eisendorfer had 19 points and 10 rebounds and kai Johnson added 18 points in the loss for the Pirates.

In other semi final action, Jaylen Ayala had 24 points and Josef Major added 15 points as Palo Verde (6-2) picked up a 84-82 win over tournament host Antelope Valley (2-5) to advance to the championship game. Xa Landry had 19 points and 6 rebounds and Josh Montiano added 17 points in the loss for the Marauders. Palo Verde will take on Pasadena in the final and Antelope Valley will next face Ventura in the 3rd place game.

Kameron Brown had 18 points and GD Deng added 14 points as Los Angeles Pierce (3-6) moved into the consolation championship game with a 88-76 victory over the University of Antelope Valley JV team.

In the other game in the consolation bracket, Jacob Vargas had a game high of 34 points and Taieem Comeaux added 14 points, 18 rebounds and 6 assists as Imperial Valley (1-8) won their first game of the season with a 81-79 victory over Victor Valley (3-5). Alijah Gonsalves had 16 points and Jordan Malveaux added 15 points in the loss for the Rams. Imperial Valley will take on Los Angeles Pierce in the consolation championship and Victor Valley will face the University of Antleope Valley JV team.

Citrus Tournament – Glendora, CA

In day two action in Glendora, Chidi Obichere had 29 points and 12 rebounds as 14th ranked Los Angeles Southwest (6-2) edged Santa Monica 74-71. Lafayette Williams had 14 points and Thomasi Gilgeous-Alexander added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the loss for Santa Monica (4-6).

In the second game of the day, Markee Williams had 21 points and 7 rebounds and Charlie Gehler added 16 points and 5 rebounds as San Diego Miramar (4-4) picked up a 65-63 win over Los Angeles City (0-8). Chasen Stewart had 19 points and 5 rebounds and Luke Olmstead added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the loss for the Cubs.

In the final of the day, Kai Smith had 31 points and Damien Parker added 24 points as 10th ranked Santiago Canyon (7-3) picked up a 97-88 win over 5th ranked Citrus (6-2). Brandon Suber had 26 points and 11 rebounds and EJ Bryson and Tyrel Creger each added 15 points in the loss for the Owls.

Coach Treggs Classic

Southwestern Oregon picked up a 87-83 overtime win over Mendocino (2-5). Ahmad Artis made six three pointers and had 36 points in the loss for the Eagles.

In the finale of the night, Kai Purcell had 21 points and Ty Neff added 17 points as Redwoods (7-5) picked up a 82-68 win over Napa Valley (0-9). Chris Farrington and Nate Broome each scored 14 points for the Storm in the loss.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA – Chaffey 93 (8) Mt. San Antonio 84 (OT)

Brody Davis had 21 points and 8 rebounds and Uriyah Rojas added 16 points as Chaffey (8-1) handed 8th ranked Mt. San Antonio (7-1) their first loss of the season. Nick Hopkins had a game high of 38 points and added 12 rebounds and Elijah Cirilo chipped in with 10 points and 4 assists in the loss.

Stockton, CA – (6) Sequoias 77 San Joaquin Delta 72

Jose Cuello had 24 points and Cameron Clark added 17 points as 6th ranked Sequoias (5-2) went on the road and picked up a 77-72 win over San Joaquin Delta (1-6). Dayton Magana had 19 points and Dom Perasso added 18 points in the loss for the Mustangs.

Fremont, CA – (9) Sacramento 91 (15) Ohlone 78

Money Lott had 27 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks and AJ Ferrera-Jones added 25 points as 9th ranked Sacramento (8-0) won their eighth straight game with a 91-78 win over 15th ranked Ohlone (6-4). Jude Jennings had 21 points Nebiyu Teklemiriam added 15 points in the loss for the Renegades.

San Bruno, CA – (14) Skyline 94 Diablo Valley 84

Darrin Lum had 24 points and Achilles Woodson added 18 points as 14th ranked Skyline (7-2) picked up a 94-84 home victory over Diablo Valley (2-6). Marshawn Smith had 18 points and Ben Tellez added 15 points in the loss for the Vikings.

Merced, CA – (13) Merced 99 Cuesta 90 (2OT)

Tyreon Payne had 41 points and Yasir Rowell added 33 points as 13th ranked Merced (8-1) needed two overtimes but the Blue Devils picked up a 99-90 over Cuesta (1-8).

Lemoore, CA – (6) Allan Hancock 88 (10) West Hills Lemoore 52

6th ranked Allan Hancock (5-4) went on the road and crushed 10th ranked West Hills Lemoore 88-52 on Saturday evening. West Hills Lemoore moves to 6-2 with the home loss.
