Signal The Light Basketball week 5 Southern California Rankings (December 5-11)

1. Cerritos (7-0): The Falcons move into the top spot in our week 5 Southern California rankings after picking up a win last week. Cerritos has now started the season off winning seven straight games after picking up a 90-70 win over Copper Mountain last week. The Falcons have put together a 3-0 record against teams that have a winning record. This week the Falcons will be put to the test as Cerritos will face 3rd ranked Riverside on Wednesday, 6th ranked East Los Angeles on Thursday and end their week against 8th ranked Saddleback on Saturday.

2. Citrus (6-2): The Owls move up one spot in the rankings and are at number two this week after going 2-0 last week. Citrus picked up wins over Cerro Coso and Porterville and have won three straight games and six of their first eight to start the season. This season the Owls are 2-2 against teams that have posted a winning record and have losses against Riverside and Cerritos this season. The Owls will be in action this week at the Fullerton Classic as Citrus will face 14th ranked LA Southwest on Thursday, face Chaffey on Friday and finish off the tournament against 5th ranked San Diego on Saturday.

3. Fullerton (8-1): The Hornets drop two spots in the rankings after going 1-1 last week. Fullerton went on the road and lost to San Bernardino but followed that up with a win against East Los Angeles. The Hornets have played solid basketball to start the season and have put together a 4-1 record against teams that have posted a winning record. This week, Fullerton will face three more teams that have winning records and will take on 5th ranked San Diego on Thursday, 13th ranked West Los Angeles on Friday and end the week against Chaffey on Saturday all at home.

4. Riverside (6-1): The Tigers move up one spot in the rankings despite having the week off. Riverside has started the season off winning six of their first seven games and the Tigers are 3-1 against teams that have posted a winning record this season. Riverside will have a big week as they are hosting the Riverside City Tournament. The Tigers will face top ranked Cerritos on Wednesday, face 15th ranked Mt. San Jacinto on Thursday and end their week against 6th ranked East Los Angeles on Saturday.

5. San Diego (7-1): The Knights move up one spot in the rankings after picking up three wins last week and winning the Grossmont Invitational. San Diego beat Los Angeles Trade Tech, Copper Mountain and beat Yuba in the championship game as the Knights have started the season winning seven of their first eight to start the year. San Diego has a 3-0 record against teams that have a winning record this season. This week, the Knights will be at the Fullerton Tournament and face 3rd ranked Fullerton on Thursday, 14th ranked Los Angeles Southwest on Friday and end their week against 2nd ranked Citrus on Saturday.

6. East Los Angeles (3-2): The Huskies drop two spots in the rankings after going 1-1 last week. East Los Angeles cruised past Phoenix Prep but suffered a loss against Fullerton on the road. East Los Angeles has started the season off slow at 3-2 but the Huskies have put together a 1-2 record against teams that have a winning record this season. The Huskies will be in action three times this week as East Los Angeles will be at the Riverside City Tournament. East Los Angeles will face 11th ranked Ventura on Wednesday, top ranked Cerritos on Thursday and end the week against 4th ranked Riverside on Saturday.

7. San Diego Miramar (8-1): The Jets remain put at number seven following a win last week. Miramar picked up a win against Golden West 85-56 and the Jets have now won three straight games. This season the Jets have won eight of nine to start the season and Miramar has put together a 3-1 record against teams that have a winning record. This week, the Jets will take on Orange Coast at home on Friday in their lone game of the week.

8. Saddleback (6-2): The Bobcats stay put at number eight this week in our rankings after having the week off. Saddleback is 3-2 against teams that have a winning record the Bobcats have lost to West Los Angeles and Pasadena in their first eight games. This week, the Bobcats will be at the Riverside City Tournament and play in three games. Saddleback will face 15th ranked Mt. San Jacinto on Wednesday, 11th ranked Ventura on Thursday, and top ranked Cerritos on Saturday.

9. San Bernardino (3-2): The Wolverines stays put in the rankings after putting together another nice win for the program. San Bernardino handed Fullerton their first loss of the season and the Wolverines have put together two nice victories against ranked teams in their last two outings. San Bernardino is 2-2 against teams that have winning records and have losses against East Los Angeles and Saddleback this season. This week, the Wolverines will be at the Santa Barbara tournament and open up 1st round action against Oxnard on Thursday.

10. Los Angeles Harbor (7-1): The Seahawks move up three spots in the rankings after having the week off. Harbor has started the season off winning seven of their first eight and have wins over West Hills Lemoore, Ventura and Palomar and only have lost to Miramar to start the season off. The Seahawks have put together a 3-1 record against teams that have winning records to start off. This week, Harbor will be in action one time as the Seahawks will face off against a very good unranked Santiago Canyon team on Wednesday.

11. Ventura (8-3): The Pirates move up four spots in the rankings after picking up four wins last week and winning the championship at the Gregg Anderson Memorial Tournament hosted by Antelope Valley. Ventura beat Los Angeles Southwest, Compton, Pasadena and Victor Valley and have now won five straight games to push their win total to eight games. Ventura is 3-3 against teams that have a winning record and the Pirates will be in action this week at the Riverside City College Tournament. The Pirates will face 6th ranked East Los Angeles on Wednesday, then face 8th ranked Saddleback on Thursday and end their week against a very good 15th rankedMt. San Jacinto team on Saturday.

12. Long Beach (7-3): The Vikings re enter the rankings after putting together four wins and three more bringing home the championship at the Wild West Shootout last week. Long Beach picked up wins against Canyons, Orange Coast, MiraCosta and West Los Angeles and averaged over 100 points at the tournament. Since losing three straight, Long Beach has won five straight and have put together a 4-3 record against teams that have a winning record. This week, the Vikings will be at the Santa Barbara Tournament and face Bakersfield in first round action against Bakersfield on Thursday.

13. West Los Angeles (7-4): The Wildcats drop three spots in the rankings following a 2-1 week. West Los Angeles picked up wins against unranked Rio Hondo and Southwestern but suffered a 99-72 loss against Long Beach in the championship game of their own tournament. The Wildcats are 2-3 in their last five games and have a 3-3 record against teams that have put together a winning record this season. This week, the Wildcats will be at the Fullerton Tournament and West Los Angeles will face Chaffey on Thursday, 3rd ranked Fullerton on Friday and take on 14th ranked Los Angeles Southwest on Saturday.

14. Los Angeles Southwest (5-2): The Cougars enter our rankings for the first time this season after going 2-1 last week. Los Angeles Southwest picked up wins against Santiago Canyon and Cerro Coso after having a setback against Ventura early in the week. Los Angeles Southwest has put together a 3-2 record against teams that have a winning record and have losses against Gavilan and Ventura this season. This week, the Cougars be at the Fullerton Tournament and will face 2nd ranked Citrus on Thursday, 5th ranked San Diego on Friday and end their week against 13th ranked West Los Angeles on Saturday.

15. Mt. San Jacinto (6-1): The Eagles enter the rankings for the first time this season after picking up a win last week. Mt. San Jacinto has started the season off winning six of their first seven games and picked up a 91-82 win over Golden West last week for their sixth straight win. This season the Eagles are 1-1 against teams that have a winning record and have had a great start for the new season. This upcoming week, the Eagles will be at the Riverside Tournament where they will be tested as Mt. San Jacinto will face 8th ranked Saddleback on Wednesday, 4th ranked Riverside on Thursday and end their week against 11th ranked Ventura on Saturday.
