Bulldogs bite Rams in 1st round action
Gilroy, CA – (19) San Mateo 52 (14) Gavilan 50
19th seeded San Mateo (14-15) picked up a huge road win and advanced to the 2nd round by picking up a 52-50 win over 14th seeded Gavilan (19-10) on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs will next face 3rd seeded Sequoias on Saturday. The two teams met earlier this season as the Giants picked up a 80-52 win on December 17th in Visalia.
Fremont, CA – (17) Butte 72 (16) Ohlone 66
17th seeded Butte (15-13) picked up a huge road win to advance to the 2nd round of the post season 72-66 over 16th seeded Ohlone (18-11) on Wednesday evening. Josh Niusulu had 21 points and Nebiyu Teklemariam added 15 points in the loss for the the Renegades who end their season after having a standout season. The Roadrunners will next take on top seeded San Francisco on Saturday. The two teams met earlier this season as San Francisco picked up a 98-76 win on December 15th.
San Pablo, CA – (9) Contra Costa 81 (24) Skyline 63
Miles Lewis ad 17 points and 9 assists and Seneca Willoughby added 13 points, 12 assists, 7 rebounds and 7 steals at 9th seeded Contra Costa (19-10) advanced to the 2nd round with a 81-63 victory over 24th seeded Skyline (13-16). Darrin Lum had 22 points and DeAndre Minor added 16 points in the loss for the Trojans. The Comets will next face 8th seed Columbia on Saturday as the two teams have met twice this season already and split in the two meetings.
Porterville, CA – (12) Porterville 69 (21) Monterey 47
Mylo Santos scored a game high of 21 points as 12th seeded Porterville (17-12) advanced the 2nd round with a 69-47 win over 21st seeded Monterey (11-16). The Pirates used a solid defensive effort to get out of the first round over the Lobos. Malik Ross had 12 points and 7 rebounds and Suheil Ibrahim added 10 points in the loss for Monterey. The 12th seeded Pirates will next face 5th seeded West Valley and it will be the first time the two teams met this season.
Livermore, CA – (13) Las Positas 84 (20) Diablo Valley 79
Isaiah Victor scored a game high of 30 points and Jordahn Johnson added 19 points, 13 rebounds and 8 blocks as 13th seeded Las Positas (18-11) picked up a first round win over 20th seeded Diablo Valley 84-79 on Wednesday night. Ben Tellez had 21 points and Malik Edwards added 13 points in the loss for Diablo Valley (18-11). The Hawks will next take on 4th seeded Yuba in the 2nd round as the two teams will meet for the first time this season.
Sacramento, CA – (11) Cosumnes River 84 (22) West Hills Lemoore 71
Karlos Zepeda had 15 points and James Gill added 14 points as 11th seeded Cosumnes River (20-9) picked up a 84-71 win over 22nd seeded West Hills Lemoore (13-16) in first round action. Jaylan Walton had 22 points and Jose Martinez added 18 points and 8 rebounds in the loss for Lemoore. With the victory, the Hawks will next face 6th seeded College of the Redwoods on Saturday. The two teams have not met this season as the game will take place in Eureka.
Pittsburg, CA – (10) Los Medanos 90 (23) Siskiyous 80
Devin Carson had 27 points and D’Montay Warner added 19 points as 10th seeded Los Medanos (22-7) advanced to the 2nd round with a 90-80 win over 23rd seeded Siskiyous (16-13). Dylan Neufeld had 27 points and Will Dobson added 10 points in the loss for the Eagles. The Mustangs will next face 7th seeded Chabot on Saturday as the two teams will meet for the first time this season in Hayward.

Sage Borbon had 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Makani Whiteside added 18 points and 10 rebounds as 15th seeded Fresno (20-7) picked up a 81-74 home win over 18th seeded Foothill (15-14) in 1st round action on Wednesday night. The Rams will next face 2nd seeded San Jose in 2nd round action as the two teams will meet for a second time this season. In the first meeting, San Jose went on the road and picked up a 75-67 win over Fresno on December 30th.
