1st Annual SMC O’Fallon and Singui Classic – Santa Monica, CA

Six Southern California teams will take part in a two day event hosted by Santa Monica College begins at 2pm. Four ranked teams will play in the tournament including three teams that are ranked in within our Signal The Light Basketball Southern California top 5. Los Angeles Pierce (0-0) will face 4th ranked West Los Angeles (0-0) in action at 2pm. The Wildcats come into the season as one of the top teams in Southern California and will look to start the season off on a winning note. In the second game of the day, 2nd ranked Fullerton (1-0) will take on 5th ranked San Bernardino (0-0). The Hornets will come into the game looking for their second straight win after picking up a home victory against Los Angeles Trade Tech in their home opener on Monday night. In the night cap, 11th ranked Santa Monica (0-0) will host Cypress (0-0) as the Corsairs will look to start the season off with a win against a quality opponent from the Orange Empire Conference.

In day two on Saturday, 2nd ranked Fullerton will take on tournament host and 11th ranked Santa Monica at 2pm. The Hornets will face another opponent within the top 15 and look to show why they are ranked within the top 3 and a state championship contender. In the 4pm game, 5th ranked San Bernardino will face their second straight opponent within the top 5 as they face a 4th ranked West Los Angeles team that wants to show that they are among the states elite teams. In the final game of the two day event, Cypress will face Los Angeles Pierce in a game between two solid teams in Southern California.

Sequoias Classic – Visalia, CA

Four teams will take part at the Sequoias Classic in Visalia later on today when action begins at 5pm. 8th ranked Fresno (0-0) will open up their season and face American River (0-0) to start off the event. Coach Rob Haynes will be coaching in his first game for the Rams since departing Porterville in the off season. In the 7pm game, 4th ranked Sequoias (0-0) will host Palo Verde (0-1). The Pirates are coming off a home loss against Arizona Western on Monday night and will look to upset the tournament host Giants in day one action.

The 2nd day will continue on Saturday when Fresno will face Palo Verde at 1pm and American River will take on Sequoias to cocnclude the tournament.

Gladiator Classic – Hayward, CA

Seven junior colleges from Northern California and Simpson JV will be in action for a three day event at Chabot College starting later today at noon. In game one action Porterville will look to pick up their first win of the season when they face Ohlone (0-0). The Pirates lost at home to Allan Hancock and will look advance to the semi finals with a win over the Renegades. At 2pm, 5th ranked Chabot (0-0) will look to start off their season on the right note as the Gladiators will take on Shasta (0-0). The winner of this game will face the winner of Porterville and Ohlone on Friday. In the 4pm game, Canada (0-0) will take on Simpson JV in first round action. In the finale of the first day, Feather River (0-0) will take on Reedley (0-0) as both teams will be on the court for the first time this season. The three day event will last through Saturday as the championship game is at 6pm on Saturday evening.

15th Annual Tony Costello Tip-Off Classic – Livermore, CA

Six Northern California teams including one from our Signal The Light Basketball Northern California rankings will be in action in Livermore over the three day event as action gets started later on today at 2pm. In day one action Los Medanos (0-0) will take on Sacramento (0-0) as both teams will look to pick up wins in opening day action. A very improved Contra Costa (0-0) team expected to make a post season push will take on Siskiyous (0-0) at 4pm. In the night cap on day one, 14th ranked Las Positas will make their home debut and face Butte (0-0). The Roadrunners are expected to make a run at the Golden Valley Conference championship and will look to upend the Hawks

In day two action which begins at 1pm on Friday, Siskiyous will face Los Medanos, followed by Contra Costa and Butte and the 5pm game will be Sacramento and Las Positas.

In final day action on Saturday, Los Medanos will take on Butte at 12pm, Sacramento and Contra Costa will have the second game of the day and Las Positas will host Siskiyous in the final game beginning at 4pm

13th Annual The Clash at Canyons – Valencia, CA

The 13th Annual Clash at Canyons begins at 4pm as Barstow (0-0) will face Cuyamaca (0-1) in the first game of the four team tournament. Cuyamaca will look to pick up their first win of the season after the Coyotes suffered a loss against Irvine Valley at home on Tuesday. In the 6pm game, Oxnard (0-0) will look to knock off tournament host College of the Canyons (0-0) in both teams opener. The Cougars will look to advance to the championship game with a win over the Condors in their home opener. The championship game is slated for 3pm on Saturday after first round games will take place on later on today.

San Jose City College 2021 Tip Off Classic – San Jose, CA

Six Northern California teams will take part in a three day event hosted by San Jose City College beginning at 1pm later today. Two of the teams are in our Signal The Light Basketball Northern California rankings and will look to start the season off on a winning note. In day one action, Monterey (0-0) will face Merced (0-0) at 1pm as both teams will be on the court for the first time this season. At 3pm, 12th ranked San Mateo (0-0) will be in action for the first time of the season as the Bulldogs will take on San Joaquin Delta (0-0). Delta will look to upend San Mateo as both programs will look to start the season off on the winning side. In the finale of day one at 5pm, Lassen (0-0) will take on 9th ranked San Jose (0-0). The Jaguars will step on the floor for the first time and the very talented team will look to produce their first win on the season against the Golden Valley Conference opponent.

In day two action, Monterey will face Delta, Lassen will play San Mateo, and San Jose host Merced as the action begins at 3pm on Friday. In the last day, Monterey will take on Lassen, Merced will face San Mateo and Delta will take on San Jose with action starting at 11am on Saturday.

Dana Pagett Tip Off Tournament – Santa Ana, CA

Four Southern California teams will take part in the Dana Pagett Tip Off Tournament headlined by 6th ranked Santiago Canyon at the two day event. Glendale (1-0) will look for their second win of the season as they will face off against tournament host Santa Ana (0-1). The Dons will look to pick up their first win of the season after suffering a home loss against San Diego Mesa on Monday night. In the second game of the night at 7pm, Long Beach (0-0) will take on 6th ranked Santiago Canyon (0-0) in both teams openers. Santiago Canyon comes into the season as a team looking to make a deep post season push after making the Elite Eight in 2019-2020.

In day two action, Long Beach and Santa Ana will face off in the early game at 11am on Saturday morning followed by 6th ranked Santiago Canyon and Glendale.

9th Annual Don Gehler Memorial Tournament San Diego, CA

Eight Southern California teams will travel down to San Diego and participate in a three day event hosted by San Diego Miramar College. In opening day action, Orange Coast (0-0) and Palomar (0-0) will get the tournament started at 12pm. Both teams will look to advance to the semi finals of the three day event in day one action. At 2pm, tournament host San Diego Miramar (0-0) will host Rio Hondo in 1st round action. The Jets will look to pick up their first win and make a post season push for the upcoming season. In the bottom half of the bracket, Golden West (0-0) and MiraCosta (0-0) will be in action as the Spartans look to be an improved team and will look to pick up their first win of the season over the Orange Empire Conference foe. In the game of the day at the tournament, top ranked San Diego City College (0-0) will face a solid Copper Mountain (0-0) team that is expected to make some noise this season. The Knights and Fighting Cacti start at 6pm with the winner advancing to the semi finals on Friday. The championship of the tournament will be at 6pm on Saturday and please be sure to follow us on twitter for results.

We Play Hard Tournament – Ventura, CA

Six Southern California teams will take part in the three day event hosted by Ventura College beginning today at 2pm. Two ranked teams within our Southern California Signal The Light Basketball rankings will be in action over the tournament. In the first game of the day, Victor Valley (0-1) will look to recover from a loss suffered earlier this week as the Rams will take on Antelope Valley (0-0). The Marauders will be looking for their first win of the season after making a playoff appearance in 2019-2020. In the second game of the day at 4pm, 7th ranked Riverside (0-0) will step on the floor for their opener and face off against Moorpark (0-0). In the finale, 8th ranked Ventura (0-0) will face Pasadena as the Pirates will look to open the season off with a win in front of their home crowd.

In the second day of action, Moorpark and Antelope Valley will open the day off at 2pm. Pasadena and Riverside will be the second game of the day, and Victor Valley will face Ventura at 6pm on Friday night.

In the last day of the three day event, Pasadena and Moorpark will play at 10am, followed by Victor Valley and Riverside at 12pm and the tournament will end at 2pm as Antelope Valley will take on Ventura to end the tournament.

In other games around the state, 3rd ranked West Valley (0-0) will open their season up on the road in Fairfield and take on unranked Solano (0-0) in non conference action at 4:30pm. Mt. San Antonio (0-0) will go on the road and face 15th ranked Citrus (0-0) at 5pm. Modesto and Hartnell will meet in Salinas in a Northern California battle. El Camino will travel to the Central Valley and take on West Hills Lemoore (0-0), and Southwestern (0-0) will battle Los Angeles Harbor (0-0) in non conference action.
